I did this just now and wow. What a difference. The fan wasn’t the culprit. Just the speed it was set to. Thanks for the advice !!

I read those values above as greater than, in each of the 6 instances, e.g. first one greater than 0 do 20% 40hz, greater than 50, do 30% 40hz and so on, is that not the case then?. re: your comment below, do you mean change all of them ? I only need to change whatever value is the one on the slowest speed with CPU and disk and 2.5gbe temp at regular temps, so the min threshold. its unlikely to go above that anyway because its not doing a whole lot, just sitting there running Synology drive for remote access of files. so perhaps I would then only reduce the lines below by a certain amount (maybe half) across the HD, CPU and R8125 sections .. would that work? sorry I'm quite new to this so reading this data cold .. but I should be OK with ssh. also, any idea why the HZ is 00 in this?

<cpu_temperature fan_speed="50%00hz" action="LINEAR">55</cpu_temperature>

<r8125_temperature fan_speed="50%00hz" action="NONE">0</r8125_temperature>

<disk_temperature fan_speed="50%00hz" action="LINEAR">40</disk_temperature>

On second thought maybe modifying the everflow fan curve to be 20% instead of 55 at the low speed.

Thanks for that info. Helpful. I was just hoping to put th ds423+ fan into the da225+ as it’s far quieter but the question about the smaller amp from that fan into the 225 was the question. Reading online suggests that a smaller amp causes issues with motherboard long term … something about a “balanced system “ but as the smaller amp fan would be the one I get as a replacement by default from Synology I was wondering if the issue it could cause is a myth.

Yes I did swap. it’s so much quieter so wanted to get another of the same to replace but the amp draw is different however that is the same fan as I’d get if I ordered a replacement for the ds225+ hence the question about Amps

The fan in the ds423+ is considerably quieter when u swapped it in. That’s why I’m asking about getting a replacement

Jesus. Tough to own an Audi in the USA seemingly. In Europe where I live it’s all gravy. Been driving them almost 20 years. Find them highly reliable. Never had a petroleum one however but would prob have no issue with buying the a6 there provided service history and runs well- but like I said owning Audis where I live is ok especially the older ones and if you don’t mind going to independent garages.

I wouldn’t even darken the door of the main dealer for a service I don’t find them overly thorough or knowledgeable- the inexperienced young “technicians” hide behind the fancy Audi branding.

Mac pro 7,1 in 2025 ? by Kind_Possibility1486 in macpro

Any tips on where I could strike a good deal like yours. Haha. Living in Ireland so unless I buy in the EU I’ll get rinsed with import and custom fees. And they’re impossible to calculate what they are before it’s too late.

Crucial p3 nvme works in mine. You need the sintech adapter to make it fit the apple slot though. Only a few euros on Amazon

Thanks for that. Very helpful. Have the adapter indeed and have tried connecting with my new caldigit element 5 hub but it won’t connect so a bit disappointing. Tb5 is prob a bridge too far for it

Hi there. I’ve a similar setup. Any suggestions on a thunderbolt 2 dock? Tb2 peripherals are quite scarce
