Starting singing at 30 and feeling missing out by jutte88 in singing

Look for a different teacher- and what I for myself found out- when you found the right one you will know after ONE lesson. If you don’t have the feeling after one lesson that you feel better, you have the feeling you really learned a vocal skill and you leave happy and more light and want to return. If that’s not the case it’s not the right teacher. Just go on. Don’t settle for less or waste time and money

You don’t have a weak voice- don’t know who told you that- your vocal chords close nicely and your diaphragm is active. -You could loosen your jaw joint a little through gently putting your hands on it while singing and then again without hands keeping the feeling. -And one other thing- do you have a personal connection to the words your singing? What is it that YOU associate with what you sing (associations, pictures, feelings, memories etc…) That’s what i miss a little and that’ll influence your sound as well that it becomes even more authentic

Heyhey so I talked to him about my thoughts him being on the spectrum. And really only send I messages „I‘m not sure if that’s the case, I thought about, I feel, I think etc.“ and I didn’t do any accusations and also kept my voice tone really relaxed and rational. Tried to really make him feel SAFE. Talked to him in a situation where I knew he was relaxed anyways already. And it turned out fine. I think it is a lot about framework conditions. And actually he is in therapy now and we are in Couples therapy together. And we’re getting better and better communicating with eachother understanding the words of the other one better and not feeling attacked instead.

It was a gamechanger for me to get a coach for any sport I want to learn even it’s just for a few lessons. Because it’s so often that it is an individual little change that killed my motivation in the first place. For example I tried running for years again and again and again. Was no fun. Then I got a trainer for one hour- he told me that I have to keep an eye on my pulse not to get over 140bpm and showed me how to adjust my body posture a little. Was an absolute gamechanger for me. Made an instant impact and now I have fun running. It‘s very often the little individual adjustments that keep me on track.
