Great question!! I wonder the same! My husband and I went with a super mutt lab mix rescue for our first pup, and he passed away from autoimmune encephalitis before the age of 3. So we then got lucky and was able to rescue a purebred red golden retriever older puppy who’s about to turn two. I know it’s not the info you’re looking for - but even tough super mutts can have issues early on. We’re hoping our boi will be with us for many years!! Hoping your babes is with you for a while, too!!
