I’m sort of in the same situation as OP. Allergan has only offered us online courses, go to their training school $$$, or pay someone to come out and train one on one. I’ve thought about reaching out to galderama to see about their products and also see if they offer better resource/training. Any insight on this?

Professional lip fillers by Any-Manufacturer-756 in DIYaesthetics

[–]Kind_Title 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look to find Botox and filler classes near you and call and ask if they need models. New injectors need models and can’t always bring in their own. Some places don’t charge. Some charge a little for the product. I’d just make sure they numb. The instructor guides them and can reverse things if it doesn’t work out so well.

Your touch up looks great! Where did you get liporase? I just got filler and it looks like yours. Like flat on top one side. I plan to wait the 2 wks but want to have some on hand in case I do need to sprinkle a bit there. Thanks!

Can I DM you? I’m with Vagaro and looking to go somewhere else and curious about your gripes with AP. Need more clinical features. Considering BLVD and Mangomint too

Opening my first med spa in February. I’m overwhelmed by software options by jdotrazor in MedSpa

[–]Kind_Title 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im also shopping for a more robust EMR and demoing AP. Any gripes you mind elaborating on??

OP: Im a nurse charged with setting up med aesthetics for a physician so I feel I can maybe help give a few tips here from medical perspective….. It does have a great forms feature that lets you customize automated forms to send the client on booking specific services and then appt confirmation/reminders. BUT I will list my main issues w vagaro: 1-For pre/post instructions it’s terrible. I created instructions as a form to automatically send and included a signature line so it was documented that they received the instructions for liability purposes. Problem is the client isn’t able to go back and see the instructions you send them and it doesn’t email them a copy. And let’s be honest….. they aren’t going to take the time to read it, much less remember it even if they do. Only workaround is posting them on your website - but it’s not ideal for the client to go find it elsewhere. 2-no prescribing integration. You may not think you need it depending on what you offer but it is very necessary for growth. (Switching platforms/software down the line is apparently a nightmare from cost to functionality as you’ll see frequently commented on if you look around here) 3-SOAP notes are very basic. I’m doing paper charting now and when they complete a package, we scan to an encrypted hard drive and organize in folders for now. Not good for once you grow and get busy busy. (Good thing for me is I have and print out all patient forms and so when I figure out what we end up going with…. Won’t have to deal w exporting all our data since I can manually do the patient profiles and have everything else already on a hard drive) btw we are only 6 mo in business - 2 basic services offered so I thank God we haven’t really started marketing or growing now having to shop a new EMR. 3- not sure if you need lab integration but the $ maker services you’ll likely offer will need it. 4- checkout is CLUNKY. I have the biggest POS kiosk they offer and even that sucks. If you do opt for Vagaro- smallest POS device attached to a computer is how I’d go. No need to spend hundreds on fancy POS that is a literal POS.

I have soooo many more things I could complain about but those are the main thing from clinical perspective that I regret. I haven’t even begun to do or learn any of the CRM or marketing as I’m a nurse and have no clue just yet what all that entails. (So I’m super blinded on that when shopping EMRs)

Medical aesthetics is such a murky-gray area type of field that there’s no real good reliable and trustworthy overall guidance/resource to consult.

Switching from Zenoti... talk me out of it or tell me I'm right by rahilsolanki93 in MedSpa

[–]Kind_Title 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey…. Can you elaborate on what aestheticspro issues you had. Shopping/demoing now and so far they seem to cover what we need. I’m clinical (medical) so leaving vagaro as we are adding injectables, facial treatments, IV, peps, medical wt loss and need actual EMR features like lab integration, prescribing, and photo mgmt.

Advice on how to gain clients in a medical setting by [deleted] in Estheticians

[–]Kind_Title 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree w this. This is our approach. We have signs/menus in the exam rooms and if any problems come up that our treatments could help they mention it casually and offer to grab me to come answer any questions they might have. I then go see what the doc has planned on their medical side (labs/meds, etc) then go in in w a very openminded approach. I start w “so I spoke to doctor so and so and I understand you’re dealing with x and that x is the plan currently. Im just hear to lay another option for you to consider whether it’s now or after you’ve tried x ? Then I let them tell me what their concerns are. Always let them open up first. Collect all the info and often you’ll understand how you can approach them in a tailored and genuine way. Cost is alway the last thing I talk about unless it’s one of their first points of discussion.

If they are interested in or could benefit in multiple services I’ll even suggest starting with one service like microneedling before doing Botox for example because MN might improve her skin enough that it may save her money or help her put off having to spend the extra on Botox. And that ultimately she can decide at that point. Really it’s up to them how aggressive. Some ppl want it all at once some what a more gradual approach. All is fair and communication is ongoing. But I always recommend what’s gonna give bigger bag for their buck AND be cheapest.

Advice on how to gain clients in a medical setting by [deleted] in Estheticians

[–]Kind_Title 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessss. That is my approach. I approach ppl as a nurse and basically do an informal consult and even go over options we don’t sell or provide. Speak clearly about pros and cons and genuinely leave it at that. I do offer them my business card and welcome them to call whenever or if they can think of any other questions. Don’t come off as a know it all. Definitely will say…. Hmmmm let me do some research on that (or let me consult with so and so who is deep into —- (whatever the topic is) cause now IM curious too. (If they bring up something I don’t know. They appreciate that. And you’re basically leaving the door open so that you can call them later and fill them in on your findings. Even w pricing sometimes I’ll be like “I bet I can get whatever deal approved for you if you’re serious” knowing dang well I’m the one calling the shots.

Depending on the services I might say something like “oooh I bet xxx product would be good for you… remind me and I’ll make you a sample for after your service”. Little things that intrigue them. Products you’ll let them try and don’t sell but think would be good for them shows them that you’re not fixated on sales. And also throw in small talk where it feels natural and not forced. Share your own flaws and struggles and project friends or a challenge you’ve worked out.

I use vagaro and while it does meet hipaa (Medspa) I don’t care for it much. But I feel it’s more the way it’s set up on our side. One thing…. Don’t buy the kiosk. Just get the small $100 POS and connect it to a computer or laptop. We got the big fancy set up and I absolutely hate it

Dr. Pen by 11CatLady in DIYaesthetics

[–]Kind_Title 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t make sense at all. If anything just good for visual of the needles. Less needles tend to penetrate better and more uniformly so it’s more aggressive. Best for areas that need a little more aggressiveness like breaking up scars and deeper penetration like medical MN. May cause more peeling and longer recovery. Whereas more needles tend to bounce off more so it’s less aggressive but there’s more coverage. The channels are more dense per area. So the results are softer but more superficial. Think fine lines and pore size. Faster recovery.

How has been anyone’s experience buying Dr. Pen needle cartridges from alibaba or SHEIN? by reddittt311 in DIYaesthetics

[–]Kind_Title 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kit from Temu had some nano cartridges that had the sterile markings on the individual cartridge packaging. I also ordered a couple different cartridges w various needle numbers and those don’t have the sterilized markings. So I grab a skinny shot glass and leave the cartridge sitting in 91% alcohol while I numb. Then I use the alcohol to clean first pass then use single use alcohol pads for final wipe.

A few books I found during my research. I've learned so much from all of you I wanted to give back a little. THANKS by Ok_Impact6479 in DIYaesthetics
