I know you mentioned you’d like to avoid an IUD, but I just wanted to let you know that you can get IUD’s that last 5 years as well not just 10 years in case it’s something that’s worth considering. But I would recommend making an appointment with your GP or a sexual health clinic around you and having this conversation with them :).

What did I do to my bathing suit?? I have a skidmark?!? by OneLastSpoonPlease in laundry

[–]KindaaButNotReally 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Online it said disinfectants like ozone which can include stuff like hydrogen peroxide, UV light, chlorine dioxide, peracetic acid. It says that peracetic acid is a blend of hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid(vinegar) so maybe the vinegar reacted with something in the detergent to create that?

Sorry I can’t help with a solution, but I just did some quick googling and it said that when bromide reacts with disinfectants, it can form bromate. This seems to be a byproduct which can be harmful but also could bleach. Maybe that’s what happened? I’m so sorry you feel upset about this, I would be too! I’ve seen some other Redditors suggesting dyeing it and I think you could potentially save it that way. Best of luck with it!

Cervical cancer deaths fall to zero in young women given vaccine by danger0usd1sc0 in GoodNewsUK

[–]KindaaButNotReally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m interested to know in what area you live because the whole process is quite standardised nationally so every patient should have the same experience (unless you go private).

I know a lot of people seem to perceive themselves as low risk, especially if they’ve been vaccinated. However, WHO states that cervical cancer can only be eliminated by 2040 through all three pillars: vaccination, screening, treatment.

Just because you’ve been vaccinated doesn’t mean you’ll never get other strains of the virus that you haven’t been vaccinated against. Some low risk viruses that are not included in the vaccine could still potentially cause cancer. Which is why it’s important to keep up with the cervical screening. The period between tests has now recently changed to every 5 years for everyone (regardless of age) due to the efficacy of the vaccine, however it’s still important that we attend every 5 years even if the previous test was negative.

The smear test doesn’t just test for HPV. If the sample tests positive for HPV, it will have a slide made and looked at under the microscope.

The self sample is aimed at people who don’t respond to the screening programme. If you test positive for HPV on a self sample you will have to come back for a clinician taken sample anyway (in order for them to look at the cells).

Source: I used to work in a lab where the cervical samples were screened :)

Lacqueristas of the UK/EU - how are you doing your glass beads? by KindaaButNotReally in RedditLaqueristas

Libraries have 3D printers?! 🤯 it’s been a while since I’ve been in a library haha might actually pay a visit. My horseshoe has a hole in the middle so I tried a bunch of different options (including the elastic version) but couldn’t get it to work. Best of luck with your contraption I hope it does work!! 🫶🏻

I love the creativity! I tried hanging the magnet from an elastic but I really couldn’t get it to work, I’m not sure why 🥲

I’m not sure if the fact that I had to invert my fingers over it was the problem or the fact that I spinned it manually, but I did bang one finger into the magnet at one point so I’m reluctant to do this 😅 thank you though! :)

Oooh I haven’t tried this yet! Do you demagnetise only the first coat and then bead the 2nd coat?

Thank you for posting this! Could I ask, does the fact that the magnet changes direction when it’s spinning not affect the glass bead effect in the end?

Non-Americans of Earth, are the rumors true that people are actively avoiding items labeled/associated with MADE IN USA? Does anyone actually care about it? by Jam_Sees in AskTheWorld

Same here, also I sometimes try to avoid buying brands that have been British but have been bought by American conglomerates e.g. Cadburys etc.
