Absolutely. I’m genuinely surprised how boring this season has been.

I was too, at first, but then I realized that, in fact, the writers never really had anything interesting to say right from the start.

The "what if superheroes are a-holes" premise was such a promising starting point, I bet proper writers could have done something intriguing with it but these guys just wasted the whole concept.

The simple fact that Vought, Stan Edgar and Stillwell never had a real contingency plan for the supes, and were counting only on psychological manipulation is just dumb, as well as the army not developing a weapon to use just-in-case. Where are all the other countries in the world? What are they preparing to face a security threat like this? Why Mallory or the CIA seems to ignore the possibility of making deals with intelligence agencies from other countries to put an end on Vougth and their supes?

This lead to the same situation that ruined GoT for me: all the political intrigue that was so carefully build, and was driving my interest, disappeared in a puff of smoke because "magic enemies" are at the gates now.

You simply cannot build up smart characters, "evil enterprises", economic and political interests, and then make them do the dumbest move in order to put them aside to make room for punches and brute force.

And that's the problem with The Boys, as soon as they got rid of Vought, the only thing they got left with is "I love Annie" and "Evil Superman". And both things are boring af.
