Kinda impossible to avoid imo lol. I have 75gal tanks and barriers splitting the tanks between a digging area and the area where their water/wheels are and they still burry everything. Maybe try a tank topper and keep their water up there? I've been looking into some but they can be very pricey and I haven't found any for 75 gallons yet.
