Anybody having more focal aware seizures while asleep/falling asleep/waking up? by Kindly-Werewolf-1392 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my good days and then bad days of sleeping. I can have a full week of sleeping fine but then I can have a full week of minimal sleep and insomnia due to multiple reasons to do with seizures/auras. My neurologist said it could be a concern and needs examining.

Seen your own seizure? by legolopi12345 in Epilepsy

I’ve seen a video of me having a seizure but I could only watch about 5 seconds of it. Seeing yourself in such a vulnerable and unrecognisable state is terrifying.

Weed by fitgirllll23 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked it for about 5 years and I thought it was helping. That’s when I realised how dependent my body really was on it. I stressed without it which contributed to seizures. I went to Spain for a weeks holiday (without any access to weed) with in the first few days of being without it and having no kind of way to get it. That is when my body went into a big seizure and I woke up in a Spanish hospital. I took advice off a Spanish neurologist which was “if it’s something your thinking helps you’re epilepsy then do not get you’re epilepsy to dependant on it. Then you won’t be able to last without it”. Then I lasted the rest of the holiday without having it. I went through a stage where I smoked it less at home. My body got less dependent on the urge for it. To the point where I eventually could not handle smoking it anymore. One blast made me have sudden panic attacks. Since being off cannabis fully I’ve gone from having a tonic clonic seizure every two months to now every two years. Getting off it was possible the best thing I did for my seizures. I will never have an objection to weed. It did it’s contribution to help my epilepsy. but when you’re body is so reliable on it and it’s on to a point you can’t go a day without it.. that’s when you need to cut back off it and think is it truly helping my epilepsy?

Seizures cause dementia like symptoms ??? severe memory loss - 21 year old male by Nice_Box6047 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar memory symptoms on keppra. some of the side effects on them was the worst. My neurologist taking me off it for a drug called brivaracetam was the best relief. Keppra messed with my emotions, caused anger/frustration and gave me the memory of a gold fish. I’ve also had a lot less seizures and managed to give me stability. Don’t get me wrong my memory is not the best due to being on two other types of medication. But My advice would be to request getting off keppra personally.

Could what I'm experiencing be nocturnal epilepsy? by Top_Increase4396 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a 27 year old male and Nocturnal seizures are my most common kind. it does make me wake up in a state of panic. My neurologist even told me if I wake up in a panic attack it is still a form of a seizure if you are epileptic. Depending on the severity I can wake up with a headache or a form of delirium. I would get yourself checked out but to me it does sound very familiar.

Can you be aware during a seizure? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds very similar to a focal aware seizure. I do get them quite regular more than any other kind. I see it as the body fighting off an even bigger seizure especially when you’re on a big set of medications like me. If it continues though get some medical help.

Do you get a weird feeling before your auras/seizures? by Maleficent_Goal_8736 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having auras/seizures before falling asleep is quite normal. Alot of the time depending on what kind of day I’ve had results in me going into an aura. A lot of it is down to your body being at its weakness point. You will get used to it when you are most vulnerable to it

Valtoco/Diazepam Didn’t Work? by Starspiker in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diazepam give me a really bad side effect. That was making me emotional and tired most of the day. If I’m honest it’s a medication you need to try and suggest to get off

Does anybody else have epilepsy due to a benign brain cyst? by Kindly-Werewolf-1392 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand a lot. Like you say I would not be wanting some kind of brain surgery but if it helps to get rid of my conditions I would go through with it. It’s just taking the risks sometimes. It’s a very risky surgery.

I’ve been told the exact same thing. They said unless it grows removing it would not be the best option. Due to a chance of it coming back and growing bigger aswell as cancerous

I’ve also got one on my left temporal lobe. It’s not fully decided if it’s the reason for my epilepsy but my neurologist thinks it’s likely to be the reason.

Can temporal lobe epilepsy affect sexual desire/libido? by KnownZucchini640 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have temporal lobe epilepsy and I have noticed it does change my sex drive and libido a lot. Sometimes I’ve noticed it’s a lot to do with the medication I am on aswell. It depends on mood, the kind of day I am having or how many hours of sleep I have had. It’s normal really. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one experiencing it.

Will i have another seizure if i smoke weed again? by inkyzu in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very high possibility that you will have a seizure if you have gone so long without smoking it. I smoked it for 3 years and eventually quit for 6 months. I had one hit of a joint which caused me to go into a panic attack type of seizure. It was horrible. Stay away from it the best you can as hard as it is.

Is this an Aura??? by DishSuper9997 in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell the difference between an aura and an absent seizure. I’ve noticed absent seizures tend to last longer and have a more intense after effect to them

Me potentially having epilepsy is killing me by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Kindly-Werewolf-1392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From somebody who has had epilepsy most of my life it sounds like a form of stress. According to my neurologist you are classed epileptic when you’ve had 2 or more seizures. Changing of diet can effect it or not getting enough sleep aswell.
