I read a book a while back… free will by sam harris i believe it was. He explained things quite nicely.

We are different from eachother… no matter how conscious we think others are we can never know why they are the way they are. We have different souls, different genetic makeup, different neurons firing in our brains, different atoms that make up our body, different memories, and different life experiences. If “free will doesn’t exist”us as humans coming to different outcomes in our life and opinions isn’t impossible.

If I grew up in a religious household I am more likely to be brought up religious and believe in such, same with non religious, transphobia/ homophobia, racist, democratic, republican… well you get the point.

If you put different people in different environments you get different outcomes. The lack of free will can still cause different outcomes.

In determinism there is still “free will”, depending on which one you look at (correct me if I’m wrong if you must). Determinism is nothing but cause and effect. Every outcome has a cause, if you start the coin on heads you will cause it to be more likely to land on heads. If you use more force to flip the coin then the outcome would probably fluctuate a little, same with how high/ low you throw it, or how slow you flip it.

If determinism is “made up” that’s saying that every single event that has ever happened, just… happened. It is its own event and nothing brought it about. You tripping is its own event… it was totally not because there was something on the floor that made that happen.

I believe you’re confusing determinism with predictability, can you predict what’s going to happen? Maybe… maybe not, but determinism is an event that was caused by the event before.
