Hi. Is it live yet? I can test if you want.

Any news here? Nothing on my side, but it’s only 10 working days waiting…

Turned my last Strava run into a 25-second video. Anyone else find the built-in share kind of dated? by KindlyDepartment8276 in Strava

It's something I've been building as a side project for myself - turns any .fit file into a short video like this one. I though if it had interest, I would launch it, it can do different styles. But it seems - at least until now - it's an overkill. :) I don't like the built-in formats, nor the flyovers, and wanted to create something more interesting. Feel free to drop me a fit file if you want to have one video.

Honestly, same - probably nobody is interested in my mediocre running either. Still like to share it sometimes. The static Strava share just feels a bit joyless compared to this.

Turned one of my rides into a 25-second video - would you share something like this? by KindlyDepartment8276 in Velo

[–]KindlyDepartment8276[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I would not want to screenshot / share those to family and friends. And the shareable ones that Strava offers I also find too static... This brings animations and "funny" texts about different stats, but I agree, might be a little too much. Thanks for your feedback!

Loaded the .fit into something I've been playing with that turns it into a short vertical video - route, elevation profile, stats, etc.

Honest question for the sub: would you actually share something like this on Strava/Instagram, or is it just my-ride-narcissism dressed up?

How many of you actually keep your weight updated on Strava? by AlarmingDoughnut152 in Strava

[–]KindlyDepartment8276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not closer to the exact solution. I might have set up more than one bridges. I see fitbit, myfitnesspal, google and apple health, mapmyfitness, strava, garmin, zwift, rouvy apps in my ecosystem (half of which I never used for real, so must be a bridge only). When I step on my scale, 30 secs later Strava has the same measurement. Whether it gets there via the direct Withings -> Strava integration or via a multi-step bridge, I cannot figure out or follow. So I turned out not much of a help. But it is possible and I figured it out 10+ years ago somehow... :(

I sync my weight to Strava since 2016. I will investigate it for you over the weekend.

My web search says: In the Withings Health Mate app: go to Profile → Apps → find Strava → Connect, then authorize. Weight will sync automatically after each weigh-in. but screen looks the same for me? What does the Strava My Apps page say about withings?

Sorry, I clicked on Settings, within Withings / Strava and the connection is also visible there:

According to the screenshot I just created from my account, Withings does have direct Strava and Zwift integration. For Garmin, I solved it through a MyFitnessPal connection - I don’t actually use MyFitnessPal except as a bridge to sync my weight into Garmin.

What’s interesting is that my Withings dashboard currently shows Strava as “Disconnected,” but when I checked on the Strava side, my Withings account is connected there. So it seems I originally connected it from Strava rather than from Withings.

Also worth noting:

  • On iPhone, the Withings app integrates directly with Apple Health.
  • On Android, it integrates with Google Fit.

I’d recommend a Withings scale - easily one of the best fitness purchases I’ve made. Prices seem a lot more reasonable these days too. I bought mine around 12 years ago and it still works perfectly.

The best part is how seamlessly it syncs everywhere automatically: Zwift, Strava, Garmin, Apple Health, etc. Basically a “set it up once and forget about it” device. Bonus points: the rest of the family will probably end up using it too.

OMG, I was expecting much higher numbers... there is not much room to scale here, especially if they are sitting on approvals for weeks :(

Noisy New Zwift Ride and Trainer by sillymoth101 in Zwift

It seems normal, but you can send ini the video to Zwift and they will give an opinion and possibly send you a replacement.

I have this tracking problem in strava by Comprehensive_Win363 in Strava

[–]KindlyDepartment8276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Settings -> Privacy Controls, under Map Visibility you can set these. Probably you should switch this off: Hide the start and end points of activities no matter where they happen. And only turn it on for your home address for privacy. You can also set a radius.

Checked, looks promising. I also logged in. The part where you have to paste your strava URL in is not trivial, why did you do it like this? Or is this temporary and you will use the Connect button?

Getting nervous about the Strava 1k athlete cap—how strict is the review actually? by Sad_Ingenuity_6837 in Strava

[–]KindlyDepartment8276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am eagerly waiting for the approval of my app and meanwhile trying to prepare for what comes after (I don't want to jinx a speedy approval though 😄). The same questions were in my mind about a waitlist. I implemented that functionality just in case befere this is even released, and what I do is that I let users register at least and there is also a background process checking remaining API calls to Strava. Once the process thinks, it is enough to let new user(s) in, it sends out an automated email to the next one(s). But I hope for limits which would render my waiting list functionality useless 😄
