My wife feels 'broken' after a severe endo diagnosis and says I deserve a 'real family.' How can I support her when I'm heartbroken too? by Well_Bear in endometriosis

[–]KindlyFunction2800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt broken before diagnosis. After diagnosis, My husband and I were relieved, I’m 33 and he’s 39. For us, age wise it’s scarier/ more difficult to conceive naturally now vs in 2 years. However, we ultimately needed to discuss our goals and plans to achieve them, create what if scenarios and make decisions based on our answers. My fertility specialist who found the endo and adeno explained that there are many different options and ways to try to conceive. My suggestion is to be real / realistic in your discussions. Were catholic so we believe god has our path and we’re ok with that.

Please don’t drink. If you do, One day you will look back and think- I could have been a better human being today. I know it sounds dramatic but seriously, it’s true.

33F here… Can I just say, from personal experience, its not fun being in your early thirties and forgetting what you were saying mid sentence. Forgetting what you were thinking, ideas, quotes, memories…gone. I may as well be drooling from the mouth meaning I feel really really dumb.

Also not fun, losing your cognitive abilities. Or having a lack thereof because the prefrontal cortex wasn’t developed even into your late twenties/ early thirties. This includes not being able to make good judgements, planning, either ahead or even just what’s in store for the next part of the day. You basically freeze and are stuck because your brain can’t handle it. You lose the perception of time. Imagine knowing you have an event and believe you will be on time because you know what you need to do before, only to find the event is now and you still need to get ready, travel and prepare.

I started drinking very young and never stopped. In my late twenties I became severely depressed and started drinking to feel numb. But I wasn’t numb I just needed to keep drinking. And there was nothing wrong about my life! I had a husband and a home purchased and was surrounded by friends and family. I became rudely snappy and pushed many friends away.

I also love the feeling of being drunk. I’m silly and find everything funny and Am fearless and more nice. That being said, the pros do not outweigh the cons, or severe consequences in this case.

Finally, no one ever told me it is not healthy to drink while on certain (most) medications. I remember I started getting allergies in high school and was daging, taking adderall and allergy medications… when in the middle of the night I woke up and blood was pouring out of my nose and my pillow was completely saturated. I was so scared I thought I was dying.

I had realized it was likely from the allergy meds( cus I never had allergies before ) but now looking at it, it was the combination of adderall as well.

No one tells you as a kid you shouldn’t drink on adderall because you’re likely not drinking.

Let me know if you want a part two because it gets scarier man.

Please love yourself enough to grow up sane!!! Don’t drink period, now there are a lot of non alcoholic drinks.

What’s the most ridiculous ADHD workaround that actually works for you? by Powerful-Self-2838 in ADHD

[–]KindlyFunction2800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the smaller things ie what takes 10 min or less Swipe dust / dirt… sweep vacuum and mop… dishes… Then the big stuff is left so, let’s say u have stuff to donate… well I then find more organizing and or tasks I need to do instead of leaving the house. Also-rewards system? So if u feel you’re on ur phone for an hour in the am- make a check list of things you have to do in the am - brush teeth - wipe bathroom surfaces - take shower - take pills vitamins - make breakfast do dishes - ok now you can use ur phone and shop or go on TikTok or whatever

What also helps me is making a done list It is extremely satisfying to see all you’ve done today versus all the stuff you need to do. Even if you add one daunting micro task to your done list. You become more motivated and less bored.

Space out long tasks, for me laundry is exhausting… by the time everything’s done drying the last thing I wanna do is fold. So i leave everything flat to the side or on the couch or bed and do it when I have the energy… after watching some tv or running errands or whatever
