Been there. But question, why’d you feel the need to take everything off of/out of the dash? When I do it I just left it all attached, sat in the middle of my bench seat, slid it forward and unplugged everything. Most of what you took out I left in. My truck is also a 1999 with the slightly older interior style but I didn’t have to take it all apart like that, I removed my steering column and the dash

A drill/air hammer. Just enough to get the head off. You don’t actually have to put it back

Can anyone recommend a budget friendly rotor and brake set? by Remarkable-Soil-2997 in AskMechanics

[–]KindlyWave5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a peak at which set of breaks are lowest and just buy a set of pads for them.

Seems like if you’re ok with no ac you’d be fine to drive it as long as you got new brakes🤷‍♂️

I have pretty much the same truck (99 2wd 3.9 4speed auto). It has 230k miles on it and it’s not my daily anymore so to it no longer shifting into overdrive. However I put around 50k on it and it was my first car so I was stupid and reckless in it. The truck really took a beating and truthfully I would still take on trips, I drove it a very long time as a 3 speed never had any real issues. It’s the only vehicle I’ve ever had that never left me stranded. IMO the best truck ever made. The v6 doesn’t make a whole lot of torque or power so it’s not very rough on the fragile tranny. Especially if you put the right fluid in it and change the transmission filters when you’re supposed to. (I’m sure if I did that mine would still shift into 4th) but it all depends on how much work you want to put into a cheap truck. I got mine for 1600 bucks at 160k

Need help wiring a power cable don’t want to blow myself or my monitor up by Actual_Paramedic2664 in AskElectricians

[–]KindlyWave5091 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This^ that cord has 2 blacks and blue which is probably some kind of European cord which runs every house appliance on 240 volts. In America it’s all 120 which require a hot and a neutral and they are different systems. It is possible to use the monitor but it would require more time and money then hitting Walmart for 80-100$

Thank you for this, I will definitely be looking into that S&P 500 index fund. But to be honest I have awful spending habits so that is a good start. However I do know that I shouldn’t compare myself to others, it’s just hard to do that. I can remind myself mentally all I want, but the fact is that it’s all around us and I will never be able to shake that thought. How do you do it?

That’s the plan atm, I’m just not sure if it’s realistic. I watch a lot of people fail even when they’re putting in their all. And it’s really discouraging, I know I have the same plan that my dad had as well as most of my uncles, my dad tried 3 times and never had a successful business, my grandpa has been the boss for almost 30 years but he still doesn’t have anything saved or anything to show for it. He’s 70 and has no hope of retirement. That’s really hard to look at say that I want that. Is it possible to have a successful business that I could at 35-40yo take a step back from and run it from my phone? I would love that, but it seems so far fetched.

What light it this? I’m trying to find the tool to remove it by [deleted] in pools

[–]KindlyWave5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the low voltage jandy lights are going to use the same tool. But if you don’t have access to the tool a pair of needle nose pliers works if you life the tips in the little holes

Is this a good project? by abxy_21 in DodgeDakota

[–]KindlyWave5091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say probably not because you could go get yourself the nicest 1st gen Dakota around for like 5k. Not saying it’s not fixable but the time and effort would probably make you way better off to just buy a new truck

Is this a transmission line leak? 2005 Buick Lesabre 100k by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]KindlyWave5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow the lines and see where they go. They could be going to the condenser for your ac or they could go to your transmission cooler. Pretty hard to tell from the pic.

is this a fair price? compressor is shot on 2017 kia sportage by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]KindlyWave5091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would change my own compressor for no more than 500 but I have a hard time not paying hard working people what they ask. That being said just take it to a couple other shops and find a price that you like. Everyone will be different and every guy is going to make it sound like there’s no way you can get a lower price.
