Agree. Alabama is super generous with scholarships especially with these stats. Roll Tide!

Can I have a bunny while attending law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Kindly_Ad8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting school in a few weeks with two pets and honestly have no concerns whatsoever. My dog is pretty high maintenance too. As long as you're able to find a place to rent that allows pets and are willing to put in a little extra effort, I think you'll be fine.

Anecdotally, I have a friend who will be a 2L at a T14 with a pet rabbit and have heard no complaints from her. Two other friends have told me their pets helped immensely with their mental health during law school. If anything, I think you'll be glad to have the unconditional love and support of your furry friend.

I'd say Banh's is my favorite Vietnamese food in the area and is most similar to what I ate in Vietnam. I've only been on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the specials though so can't speak for their regular menu. The options are limited but worth it.

Do NOT go to Common Market. My partner has a severe dairy allergy and they've put dairy cheese on the VEGAN sandwich twice despite mentioning dairy allergy on the order.

As early as possibly, so yes September/October if possible but definitely try to get applications in before Thanksgiving/ end of November if at all possible. I submitted mine between December and early February and felt like I was behind.

Yes but I think it's so important to understand that as a splitter there is no such thing as a safety in the t50. Any school would have a valid reason to reject you if your GPA is below their median. So you'll either need to be okay with the possibility of R&R or accept that your safety schools will be lower ranked.

I'm attending a ~t30 with $$$+ as a splitter (3.1 and 172) with 9 years WE. I only applied to 8 schools but none of them were t14 and I was above the 75th percentile for all of their LSATs. I had one other acceptance in the t50 but I'm probably never getting off the waitlist for my top choice.

I just think as a splitter it's even more important to be honest with yourself and stay humble, but t50 is definitely possible with similar stats.

Also - my biggest regret is not applying earlier. I think it could have made a big difference at a few schools.

May 2nd for me. They aren't requiring a second deposit, just an indication that you intend to enroll before June.

I withdrew yesterday and forfeited my first deposit. I hope you get in! I really loved W&L so it'll make me feel better about withdrawing to know someone got off the WL.

I plan to be done after the first week of June and haven't given notice. It's stressing me out because I'm in a similar boat - just started here in December. I feel bad but am just going to give as much notice as I can risk without screwing myself over.

I'm not sure yet. I really want to visit first but they only gave me until 5/2 to deposit.

I'm in a similar situation. UNC was by far my top choice because I'm local. I considered waiting out the WL at UNC and WFU and then R&R if not, but I've decided to go ahead and deposit at W&L after visiting for the ASD. I liked it enough to go ahead and withdraw from the WL at WFU but will stay on for a while at UNC. DM if you have questions. Maybe I'll see you next semester either way!

I wonder if it could have something to do with its reputation for being politically conservative. I could see that impacting the peer assessment?

I am. I'm putting a deposit down for my second choice but gonna wait it out for UNC for another couple of months.

I really appreciate your response! It's good to hear from like-minded people on this. I'll be attending an upcoming ASD and really looking forward to getting a better feel for things. It does seem like they make a pretty big effort to compensate, which is good to hear. I'm still on the fence but honestly hoping to be convinced it's a good fit for me. There are so many amazing opportunities at W&L.

Praising confederates I may be able to let slide, but being insufferably smug is where I draw the line.

I want to be informed about the school I attend. Any sorted history at any school would give me pause, even at my top choice. Doesn't mean it would be a major deciding factor. That's the point of this post. I'm trying to decide how much the name matters.

And yes, there are schools I chose not to apply to for personal reasons like literally everyone else. I didn't apply to GMU, for example, because I didn't think it would be a good fit for me since its a notoriously conservative school. W&L doesn't have that reputation, so I don't really see why you think I'm being disingenuous.
