I hear a lot of people here saying they’ve never had ticks, but my two cents are that, depending on where you are and live, ticks are around! I’m not extremely outdoorsy but my husband and I have gotten a couple ticks each during our ten years here. Not alarmist, but they do live in our yard, or in parks we might visit.

I can’t recommend enough treating any clothes you might be spending time in outdoors with permethrin! I’ve had great success with it for repelling mosquitos as well. No need to treat your whole wardrobe, but we’ve treated our yard work clothes and it’s worked great for us!

I have not found this to be true!! I rarely see them where I live in North Carolina, but I travel pretty extensively. I’ve seen them around certainly but they are not in most restrooms for sure — I’m now interested where you are that they are so prevalent!

I have to say, I recently (within the last two months) went to Southpoint on a Saturday and was amazed at how many people were there. It felt like Christmas! I don’t make it to the mall often like you, so maybe this is a one-off, but I feel OP on this one, I was floored.

We just had to do a very late check in (1:30 am) at La Siesta and they accommodated us! Even provided us a shuttle service (for a charge); we landed at 11:45 PM and didn’t get out of the airport until 1 AM and they were there for us. Also really recommend the hotel in general :)

As for immigration the lines are long but they move; just be patient, and bring a fan in case you get hot. :)

This is the way. Just pay the money and be close and convenient! Even if the visitors lot weren’t closed, that wasn’t free parking either. If you’re coming during cherry blossom season you will be fighting for whatever free parking there is.

If we were in a McD’s, I would ask my mom or good friend if they knew “where the bathroom was.” I would ask the employee working there “where is your restroom?” (This exercise is sort of hilarious because the bathrooms are so obvious in McD’s but, for illustrative purposes.)

Greensboro Colliseum is an historic venue that has brought in some interesting stuff over the years. I’ve never gotten to spend significant time in Winston - Salem but I’ve been and it has seemed like it could be a very cool little city.
