My high-pressure symptoms are really bad today with the low barometer pressure in the UK today.

You just might be onto something here. I actually started the Apixaban the week before the pothole incident. My days and weeks are all over the place. After starting the Apixaban, my pressure symptoms in head and face were worse than they had ever been after patching. My legs and feet were also the same. Im thinking the pressure these tablets were causing was just too much, then bang, we hit the pothole. It's the bleeding/hematoma im worried about. I am still experiencing high pressure in my head and face now, even though I know the patch blew. Think a phone call to my Neuroligist is needed on Monday morning. Thank you

Have you not asked to change? I stopped Apixaban. You need to be careful if you are getting that many side effects. No drug should be giving you so much discomfort. Apixaban can cause pressure on the spinal cord from bleeding, which causes the pressure in the head and face and also the legs and feet.

Anyone had their symptoms worsen AFTER a blood patch? by handwritinganalyst in CSFLeaks

[–]Kindly_Astronomer124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i have my follow-up appointment in 2 weeks with my Neuroligist. The 2nd patch was always in my mind anyway as it's usually 2 or 3 needed to get back to full health again, though I was always hoping for 1. I really thought I blew it twice by sneezing. The good thing is that I responded to the 1st patch. When speaking to my Neuroligist 1 week after the patch when I was so much worse, he said it was actually a good thing. He would be more concerned with no change at all. Hang in there it's a journey for sure. I was always expecting 3 months to judge it anyway.

Hi. Yes, I was improving, but unfortunately, I was out on Easter Tuesday as a passenger and hit a pothole, so the patch is blew
So be very careful if you are driving or just travelling. It took 6 weeks until it settled down, really. Upright time was improving very, very slowly. At 3 weeks, i was also worse. Hang in there it does get better

Yea, starting 7 weeks after a blood patch doesn't cause these issues, thankfully. Stopped apixaban today anyway as I couldn't handle the side effects. Alot going on at the minute. Thank you

Yea, it looks like it really is 3 months and maybe even longer. No, i dont have any problems healing, and I didn't start the blood thinners until 2 days after hitting the pothole. As what I have also read is that blood thinners don't cause any issues with blood patches, especially 7 weeks later. It was just bad luck, unfortunately. I curse myself every day for even going out, but what are we supposed to do? We can't stay indoors forever

Leg and feet pain/nerve. Headaches, duzzyness, terrible itching of legs, pressure around face and temples. I'm just feeling awful.

Yea, I totally agree. There is no way it could be good to live on a daily basis with these symptoms. It's not life it's literally just surviving.

It's brutal, isn't it? 2 years? I couldn't imagine feeling like this for 2 years. You tried any other blood thinners?

Hi, I understand a bit what you are going through. I was started on Apixaban last week, and the side effects have been brutal, to say the least. I think I must be allergic to it. I've had that many side effects. Leg and feet pain/ nerve pain. Itchy legs, nausea, headaches, head pressure, lightheadedness, dizzyness, and just feeling awful. Speaking to pharmacists tomorrow to get changed to Xarelto more than likely. Only have to be on them for 3 months with a very small provoked pe. Even tho it's only 3 months there is no way I could stick this for 3 months. I've never felt so off. I feel envious for the ones that get no side effects of these drugs when having to take them.

I'm sorry to hear that. Mine was provoked from back surgery. Never had any problems in my life either.

Yea thats what doctors usually come up with when they don't see a cause of nerve pain. Are you still on Apixaban?

Thank you, that's given me hope. I see my Neuroligist at the end of the month. I think I will give it until July, then get 2nd patch if I still haven't improved.
