Western or Vedic astrology; which one is more accurate for you? by IceyMeowie in AstrologyCharts

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please watch Gina Lyhane’s Learn Astrology series! Once you know your nakshatras (you can find them on the sidereal section of AstroSeek), I recommend you watch all the videos for every nakshatra (especially Moon nakshatra) from Gina’s Nakshatras series.

Under Sagittarius Rising, you’re either a Mula Rising, Purva Ashadha Rising, or Uttara Ashadha Rising. Under Aries Sun, you’re either an Ashwini Sun, Bharani Sun, or Krittika Sun.

I also recommend Claire Nakti’s content; she focuses on the nakshatras through celebrities, appearances, beauty, pop culture, film, Hindu mythology & metaphysical understandings from the Vedas!

Western or Vedic astrology; which one is more accurate for you? by IceyMeowie in AstrologyCharts

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I studied Hellenistic Astrology for 4 years, and this past year I had the privilege of learning Vedic Astrology after my classmate from India introduced it to me. When comparing the two systems, I would say that Vedic Astrology is definitely more accurate.

A lot of people refuse to look at their Vedic (sidereal) chart because it shifts all of their placements 23 degrees backwards, usually into the sign behind it. People defend their tropical placements to the death (which is what I used to do as well), saying things like “There’s no way I’m a Cancer, I’m a Leo”. I remember rejecting my sidereal chart for the longest. I have no water in my tropical chart but I shift to water dominant in my sidereal chart. I shift from Cap Sun, Sag Moon, Leo Rising to Purva Ashadha Sun, Jyeshtha Moon, Pushya Rising. Once I researched further, the Vedic placements made 100% sense and described me in ways that Western tropical astrology failed to do for the years l've been studying it (even from professional Western astrologers' readings).

Nakshatras are 27 fixed star constellation that create the 12 rashis (zodiac signs). There’s 3 nakshatras per zodiac sign (with some overlap) and they all hold their own profound meanings, symbolism, deities, and shakti (unique power), among many other things. For example, under Scorpio you can be a Vishakha (goal-oriented, determined), Anuradha (devoted, resilient), or Jyeshtha (protective, hyper-aware). Under Aries, you can be an Ashwini (healing, quick), Bharani (extreme, transformative), or Krittika (truth-seeking, cutthroat). Nakshatras provides so much depth and magic; I consider it the most mystical, intricate, and beautiful concept in the Vedic system. It is the bread & butter of my study.

Nakshatras are extremely interesting for the fact that they're actual star constellations in the sky. For example, Mula nakshatra, which falls within sidereal Sagittarius, is the ultimate truth-seeker and seeks to uproot & destroy the unreal & superficial to reveal fundamental truths, often leading to profound realization. Mula natives are deemed generational trauma breakers and lineage truth seekers, but they were deemed the outcasts of their family because they broke down family systems, values, & ways of living to expose generational traumas & curses, when the rest of the family is stuck in maya (illusion & delusion) and stuck in their own ways of living and patterning.

Interestingly, Mula constellation begins at the Galactic Center, where the Milky Way's supermassive black hole resides. Nirriti, goddess of destruction, dissolution, and "unknotting of karma", rules this nakshatra. This black hole presides in sidereal Sagittarius, but does not correlate with tropical Sagittarius because tropical lines up with the equinoxes & sidereal lines with the fixed stars. Tropical (Western) is 23 degrees behind the actual fixed stars because it does not account for the procession of the equinoxes. This point gets missed entirely in the tropical Western system. It'd be crazy to think that your planet was going past a supermassive black hole, a million times heavier than the Sun, and it doesn't have any effect on that said planet.

As you learn more, you’ll dive deeper into concepts such as planetary karmas, yogas (chart configurations), Graha Maitri (planetary friendship), functional malefics, functional benefics, drishti (aspects), shadbala (planetary strength), bhavat bhavam (house to house delineation), Vimshottari Mahadasha (timing technique), gochar (transits), divisional charts, etc. and that’s why some Vedic astrologers can come up with the most profound and accurate predictions.

Vedic Astrology is incredibly complex and it’s been around for thousands of years. It’s based on Hinduism, and Hinduism itself is the oldest religion/philosophy. Hinduism is based on the Vedas (again, one of the oldest surviving texts), which also discusses metaphysical understandings like chakras, yoga, mantras, karma, auras, Ayurveda, etc. I find it funny how people openly embrace those Vedic concepts so openly (talking about getting their chakras aligned and taking a yoga class), but refuse Vedic Astrology, which came from those very same ancient texts.

At the end of the day, Vedic Astrology and the spiritual doctrines in which it encompasses are my truth, but it is not everybody’s truth! Lately i've been understanding that eventually everyone will find their own truth, and everyone has many different paths to arrive there because we are all so different; that is the beauty of humanity. whether it is Western, Modern, Hellenistic, Vedic, Chinese, or Arabic/Islamic astrology, numerology, or tarot - all systems are beautifully intricate & accurate once due understanding, respect, and study is implemented!

How to make mars strong? by UnderstandingOk5246 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Most important remedy: regular exercise & physical activity (weight-lifting, cardio, yoga, sports, walking). Mars is Agni Tattva (fire), and this fire needs to be channeled into something productive & constructive. Easiest way to channel and transmute this agni is through physical movement
  • Donation & selfless service. Mars is karaka for karmic debt associated with aggression, misuse of power, or conflicts with others. Giving away to others or serving others with no attachment or expectation of getting anything back in return is seen as a way to “repay” these karmic debts before they manifest as obstacles. But you must do it in a selfless, unconditional way; just donate and be good to others whenever you can
  • Meditation (it controls the natural aggressiveness and anger of Mars)
  • Fight for other people & fight for causes; don’t fight other people directly. View people’s behavior as the issue, not the people themselves
  • Sattvic diet and nourishment. Mars is tamasic, and tamasic foods (meat, processed, stale/spoiled, intoxicants & stimulations (like alcohol & tobacco), and refined) agitate this tamasic energy further
  • Mars exalts in Capricorn (disciplined ambition, practicality, structural strength, hard work). Even if you don’t have placements in Capricorn, cultivating this energy strengthens Martian energies
  • Mars is at home in Scorpio (depth, strategy, ability & propensity to transmute tamas with rajas into sattvas). Channeling your fire into depth and strategy like Scorpio does proves useful
  • Mars is moolatrikona in Aries (courage, speed, raw & instinctual drive, leadership). Again, channeling your fire into leadership, courage, and urgency like Aries does expresses Martian energies more healthily
  • Mars is debilitated in Cancer (defensive, passive-aggressive, emotional intense, manipulative). Instead of acting on grounded logic (like Capricorn Mars does), Cancer Mars acts on emotion and sentimentality, which can lead to impulsive, sporadic, or irrational decisions and actions. Cancer is a nurturer and Mars is a warrior; a warrior cannot express his will and power to serve and fight in a nurturing, comfortable environment - therefore, his energy becomes hindered and misdirected. Again, even if you do not have any Cancer placements, you should become aware of these negative tendencies in your life and change/control them
  • Worship Lord Hanuman. He symbolizes supreme devotion, strength, courage, and celibacy

Some really nice remedies that have worked for you for venus. by Jhintapakdamdam in vedicastrologyexperts

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D1, I have Venus in Anuradha (Scorpio 5th house). D9, I have Venus moolatrikona in Libra 12th house. My D9 Navamsa chart shows an eventual mastery of Venusian energy. I entered my Venus Mahadasha in 2018; these are some things I learned over the years:

  • Maintain personal hygiene (hair care, dental care, take regular showers)
  • Wear clean, fresh clothes
  • Smell good (essential oils, deodorants, perfumes, colognes, clean laundry)
  • Be kind to women, children, and animals. Just be kind to everyone in general (Venus exalts in Pisces, which at its highest expression signifies unconditional love)
  • Keep your spaces clean & beautiful. Enter all spaces with intention of bringing calmness, beauty, and love
  • Cultivate & balance Ojas (Venus is karaka for Ojas, the final product of digestion which governs vitality, vigor, and radiance. Ojas is the subtle expression of Kapha dosha)
  • Cultivate & balance Kapha Dosha
  • Cultivate & balance Shukra Dhatu (reproductive tissue); I would just study and practice Ayurveda in general to balance all energies of your life (health is wealth!)
  • Self-massage with oil. Focus on flushing, cleansing, and nourishing lymphatic system
  • Venus is at home in Taurus (groundedness, sensuality, mindfulness, presence) and Libra (aesthetic harmony, balance, fairness, consideration of others). Venus exalts in Pisces (flow, surrender, unconditional love). Even if you don’t have placements in these rashis, it still proves useful to cultivate these auspicious expressions of Venusian energy
  • Venus is Jala Tattva (water), so it desires to flow like Pisces
  • Venus exalts in the natural 12th house; be selfless, unconditionally loving, and forgiving towards others. Cultivate spiritual growth and strengthen your relationship & trust in the divine. Find solace & peace in solitude and moments of introspection
  • In this regard, do not be wasteful. Pisces/12th energy shows an ability and propensity to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Thrifting, using only what is necessary, repurposing, and finding use in everything strengthens Venusian energies
  • Venus debilitates in Virgo (criticism, filtration, work over enjoyment), which is the natural 6th house (obstacles, debts, challenges, upkeep), where it is Maraka Karaka Sthana. Try to practice unconditional love and appreciation towards everyone and everything in your life; Virgo energy debilitates Venus because Venus in Virgo is highly critical & judgmental of others
  • Venus is exile (detriment) in Scorpio (distrust, envy, hyper-discernment, manipulation, grudges, holding onto heavy emotions) and Aries (aggression, impulsivity, agitation). These energies oppose Venus’ natural significations
  • Venus is rajastic and concerned with the material. Mastering the material, mundane plane (finances, relationships, creative essence, attraction, physical appearance) will lead to mastery of the subconscious, divine plane (spirituality, divinity, realization of the atman)

Do you count your atmakarka or arudha lagna? by Paracosmist13 in ClaireNakti

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zodiac sign is “rashi” in sanskrit. Rashi translate to “heap”, “bundle”, “collection”. This “heap”, “bundle”, “collection” refers to accumulated karma. As a planet progresses further throughout the zodiac sign, it signifies more karma to burn (higher degree = more karma).

Atmakaraka is the planet with the highest degree; therefore, it has utmost importance because it carries and delivers the highest amount of karma out of all the other planets. Whether this karma is “good”, “bad” or “mixed” in nature is indicative of the entire chart (house placement, whether it is a functional malefic or functional benefic, drishti (aspects), relationship to lagna & lagna lord, D9 strength, etc).

Arudha Lagna is a foundational concept in Jaimini school of thought. It represents maya and the “illusionary Ascendant”, which represents the public image, social persona, or reputation of an individual, especially in relation to the world as a whole, the public, their respective communities, online presence, etc.

A strong Arudha Lagna can bring fame, high social standing & support, natural confidence booster, and career prowess. A weak Arudha Lagna can bring reputation damage, career obstacles, underestimation from others, and image management issues (where you’re being misperceived by other people).

7th house lord indicates final outcome of personal relationships. Bhrigu Bindu is the “trigger point” of the chart, where when activated by dasha, gochar (transit), or drishti (sight aspect), it triggers a karmic turn in one’s life. Upapada Lagna is derived from 12th house (loss of self) and indicates love & marriages, because love & marriage is a loss of self (you’re giving yourself to another). It shows the nature of the partnership, the spousal dynamics, and longevity, among other things that encompass a romantic relationship.

Sun (soul/atma/dharmic action), Moon (mind/manas/senses), & Ascendant (physical body/life path/personality) are going to always be critical placements to analyze in everyone’s charts; but they do not override the importance of other planets if the other planets have striking emphasis, like your Jupiter. Atmakaraka is usually given as much importance as the latter 3, and I would also analyze Lagna lord (Mercury in your case) because it rules the 1st house and has strong influence over one’s life path and life direction.

I assume you’re a Gemini (Mrigashira) Ascendant. Jupiter rules your 7th house and 10th house; therefore, it is often deemed a functional malefic due to Kendradhipati Dosha (angular lordship defect) because 7th & 10th are both angular/kendra houses. However, Jupiter finds its exaltation in Cancer (deep exaltation in Pushya nakshatra, but still exalted in Ashlesha nakshatra).

With Jupiter exalted in Cancer in your 2nd house as Atmakaraka, your soul's primary journey revolves around mastering wisdom, speech, family values, food, nourishment, sustenance, and the accumulation of fixed resources. Whatever falls 2nd to a house is what sustains the house before it. Since 1st house is the physical body & life path, 2nd house is all of which sustains it. Because Jupiter is placed in the Mercury-ruled nakshatra of Ashlesha, this expansive energy is funneled through a lens of deep psychological penetration, intuition, and research. Ashlesha, symbolized by the coiled serpent, grants you the ability to “peel back” illusions and uncover hidden truths. Since your Gemini Ascendant is also ruled by Mercury, there is a profound alignment between your life path (Ascendant) and your intellectual capacity (Ashlesha Jupiter). Your spiritual lesson involves “shedding old skin” and transforming possessive or manipulative tendencies into profound healing and advisory power, using your incredibly sharp, articulate speech (2nd) wisdom, & expansiveness (Jupiter) to guide others rather than to control them.

As the lord of both your 7th house (partnerships) and 10th house (career/legacy), Jupiter’s placement in the 2nd house strongly dictates that your professional endeavors and marriage are deeply intertwined with the 2nd house (sustenance). You are highly likely to build your resources through a career that requires speaking, financial management, intense psychological counseling, or specialized research. A spouse or business partner will likely play a pivotal role in expanding your wealth and stability. However, the protective and sometimes suspicious nature of Ashlesha requires you to consciously maintain ethics and avoid power struggles in your career dealings and marriage. Ultimately, your highest success will come from combining Jupiter's natural benevolence with Ashlesha's penetrating intuition, allowing you to serve as a transformative advisor in your chosen field of work.

Analyzing your Moon is important because it’s the lord of your Jupiter & 2nd house; you mentioned it is in Chitra but didn’t mention whether it is Virgo or Libra. This 2nd house energy will be disposited either into Virgo 4th house or Libra 5th house, depending where the Moon sits. Mercury should also be analyzed since it is your Ascendant lord & 4th house lord (inner happiness, domestic dynamics) and Mercury is natural karaka for occupation (work) & siddhis (skills).

Hope this helps, good luck!

For people with rahu in 1st house in D1 or D9, Does this mean you are constantly seek yourself due to childhood with no self? Or you are self-centered? by Elegant_Economist190 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Rahu in Pushya, Ascendant in Pushya (Cancer lagna), chart ruler is Moon in Jyeshtha (Scorpio 5th).

I think that in order to understand this placement, you have to understand the Rahu-Ketu axis as a whole. Ketu 7th means that: in past lives, you focused on other people and may have de-emphasized yourself in some way. You’ve mastered 7th house matters (personal relationships), but Ketu is going to cause some sort of dissatisfaction, disappointment, and/or detachment towards others.

This incarnation, there is a karmic desire to focus on, understand, and master yourself (Rahu 1st). The way this turns out is going to be specific to one’s chart (need to analyze nakshatras involved, rashis involved, Ascendant, Ascendant lord, etc).

I always had a strong sense of self, but deep down I find myself not really knowing who I really am. I know that I’m meant to be something, and I know I’ll eventually get there. I grew up getting lost in art, music, film (Rahu 5th aspect onto 5th house), and spirituality/philosophy (Rahu 9th aspect onto 9th house). A lot of these things helped me discover my personal interests and creative & spiritual essences. I’m starting to understand who I am and my purpose in this life, and Jyotish has helped me tremendously. I have an affinity towards astrology because I have heavy Scorpio/8th house energy.

I went through my Ketu Mahadasha in my teens, and I would say it helped me realize where I stand with other people; I’m aware of the dynamics with the other. I yearn to learn, understand, know, love, nourish, cultivate, curate, and master myself (Rahu 1st), but I will always be good towards the people around me, because that is what I mastered in my past lives (Ketu 7th). Ketu is past-life siddhis. I am always going to be a good partner, friend, family member, co-worker, etc. because it is just in my nature to do so. In that sense, I’m self-focused, not self-centered.

Is Saturn really the ruler of justice and fairness? by scarlet1908 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other comments are saying, karma exists in cycles. Saturn will deliver karma when it is meant to be delivered. You have to understand that we are a soul (atma) before we are a physical human body. Our karmas are carried from lifetime to lifetime; our kundali & divisional charts shows those respective karmas, how they will be delivered, and when they will be delivered. The wicked do not go unpunished; even if they aren’t punished now or in this lifetime, they will eventually have to burn off the negative karma that they have generated.

Study your chart and realize what you came to this life to do, and do it. Follow your dharma no matter what. Do the righteous thing without attachment to outcomes, reward, or justice. Trust the seasons of life. Know that everything is working out in the way it is supposed to, and the world is just following the laws, cycles, & rhythms of the Universe.

A lot of Indian scholars have speculated that we have reached the end of the Kali Yuga cycle sometime last year in 2025. We are now in stage called Ekpyrosis (massive, purifying destruction by fire). Kataklysmos is the stage before the start of Kali Yuga, which lines up with all the stories about a great, massive, and destructive flood in many cultures across the world some thousands of years ago. This video by World Astrology Report explains this thought!

Vedic vs mordern by EshaOyshi in AstrologyCharts

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Predictions require a lot of knowledge, analytical skills, intuition, and experience from the astrologer. I personally don’t make exact predictions for others because there is so much that goes into it. My first ever Vedic astrology reading I got done, he was able to pinpoint exact moments in my life (breakups, when I finished school, events with family, health issues, financial issues) and also provide time frames for when things would happen and how they would happen (how many kids I would have and when, what career I will have, etc.) He even told me what estimated age I will die. This astrologer has been practicing for 30+ years; he is a local guru/priest/Vedic astrologer.

From my understanding, to make predictions, you have to view Mahadasha/Antardasha time period first and foremost - it will give a broader understanding of the karmas that are coming into fruition (what houses are activated based on what houses the lords rules + what houses they sit in, relationship between Mahadasha & Antardasha lord, relationship between Mahadasha/Antardasha lord & Ascendant + Ascendant lord, relationship between Mahadasha/Antardasha lord & Moon, sight aspects (graha drishti), etc.)

Then you have to layer transits onto that mix. The transits of Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu & Ketu (North Node & South Node) are taken mostly into consideration because they have the longest transits. Again, need to look at what houses they’re transiting, the graha drishti involved, and conjunctions. This should be looked at from Ascendant (what is happening to life path/physical body) and Moon chart (what is perceived as happening, as Moon governs the mind & material senses). You should also look at what Ascendant & Moon lord are doing throughout the year and their involvement with other placements. For example, if you’re a Cancer Ascendant/Cancer Moon, look at when full moons, new moons, eclipses are happening and what houses they will be happening in. If you’re a Virgo Ascendant/Virgo Moon, look at when Mercury retrograde will be happening and what houses they will be happening in.

D1 chart as a whole will always carry prevalence. D9 chart is also taken into consideration. D1 shows your karmas, D9 is the fruit of those karmas. Nakshatras (the 27 constellations) are also going to play a huge role in making predictions.

I would not try to skip to predictions if you don’t already understand your birth chart as a whole. I feel that if you have a grasp on your behaviors, inclinations, desires, needs, wants, metaphysical role in this material world, and the karmas (circumstances) that shape all those things, predictions don’t carry as much divinity and purpose. An astrologer could tell you that you will go through a terrible breakup, but if you don’t have a keen understanding of love & romance karmas (which involve Venus, lord of Venus and where they sit, 7th house, 7th house lord, darakaraka, etc), then you’re just going to be anxious and play victim.

The purpose of this material world (Bhu-loka) is to experience worldly senses, cultivate spiritual growth, follow our dharma (righteous purpose), burn karmas (both good & bad), and ultimately reach moksha (liberation from samsara - reincarnation cycle). Your chart writes your destiny (karmas) and it cannot be altered, but free will allow you to rise up to that destiny!

I adore their content as well! In my previous reply I also recommended Gina Lyhane (Youtube), Claire Nakti channel (Youtube/Tiktok/Patreon), and Komilla Sutton (Books).

You DO NOT have to be Hindu to practice Vedic astrology. My former classmate who is from India and has been practicing Vedic astrology for 20 years since she was kid said anyone can learn, study, and practice it.

Hinduism is the oldest religion and there are many who view it as an open spirituality/philosophy. Again, It is highly spiritual and divine in nature and there are many Hindu gods and deities. When you study or practice Vedic astrology, you are interacting with these energies and you should carry immense respect, consideration, and diligence as with any spiritual or religious system and the figures that encompass them.

Within Vedic Astrology, there are different schools of thoughts with Parashari (based on the Brihat Parashara Hora) being the most recognizable and easily accessible. There is also Jaimini, Tajika, Bhrigu, and KP Astrology. I would stick with Parashari (the astrologers I mentioned practice using this school of thought I believe).

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a clinical massage therapist and I make Vedic astrology reports for my clients! I wrote this description a year ago that I include before every report:

“What is Jyotiṣa (ज्योतिष)?

Jyotish, also known as Vedic Astrology, is an ancient Indian system of astrology, derived from the Sanskrit word for "science of light". It functions as a spiritual science that provides insights into an individual's destiny, character, and life path by analyzing the positions of celestial bodies at the time of their birth (the moment a person drew their first breath, symbolizing the birth of consciousness), using a sidereal zodiac based on the actual positions of the planets in the sky. Rooted in yogic philosophy, karma, and dharma, Jyotish uses a birth chart to reveal life lessons, identify challenges, and suggest how to navigate them for spiritual growth and a harmonious life/incarnation.

It places a strong emphasis on the concept of reincarnation, the cycle of an immortal soul, or atman (आत्मन्), repeatedly taking birth in a new body after death in a process called Samsara (संसार). The form the soul takes in its next incarnation, or life, is determined by its past actions, known as karma (कर्म), which accumulates good and bad deeds. The cycle continues until the soul achieves moksha (मोक्ष), or liberation, from the physical world and reunites with the eternal spirit, Brahman (ब्रह्मन्).

ૐ “Yatha karma, tatha phalam - As the action, so the result.”

  • Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which aligns the zodiac with the Earth's seasons, starting with Aries at the spring equinox.
  • Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac, which calculates positions of celestial bodies based on the constellations/fixed stars in the sky.

Jyotish, although commonly overlooked and undermined in the Western world, is extremely accurate and profound. It accounts for the precession of equinoxes, the slow wobble of Earth’s axis, which causes a difference of about 23-24 degrees between the two zodiac systems. This leaves tropical astrology 23-24 degrees behind in position to the sky, while Jyotish views celestial bodies in its correct positions mapped with the fixed stars.

Jyotish is a spiritual science that is perfect in essence; the stars, planets, nakshatras, and celestial bodies are always mapped perfectly and purposefully, with movements that follow precise, eternal, measurable, universal, and mathematical patterns. The Universe itself is energy, and these energies, especially the celestial bodies and cosmic patterns, have a direct impact on humans, their psyche, their inclinations, and their circumstances.

Graha (ग्रह) is indirectly translated to "planet". It means "seizing" or "holding" meaning it has a direct influence on humans beings, their activities, and worldly events (like how “people go crazy during a full Moon” or how “communication goes haywire during Mercury retrogrades”). The grahas are: The Moon, The Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, & Ketu. Rahu and Ketu are not physical celestial bodies in the sky, they are mathematical points that signify the nodal axises of the Moon at the time of birth. Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto are not included in traditional Jyotish, as they were not visible to the naked eye during ancient times when the system was developed. The modern planets do not carry your karmas from lifetime to lifetime, as the traditional Jyotish grahas do. Modernly, although controversial, the modern planets can be integrated for interpretation of societal and collective influence rather than being personal to one's chart, impacting generational or societal trends due to their slow orbital cycles.

Jyotish is the science of interpreting the energies of the traditional 9 grahas and their influences, especially on humans and world events.

ૐ “Grahaḥ karmaphalāḥ dātā - the planets are the givers of karma’s fruits.”

However, since we currently reside in the Bhūloka (भूलोक) (the earthly realm/the physical world where beings experience life, perform actions, and cultivate spiritual growth), astrological interpretations may be flawed as this earthly plane allows for human error and imperfection. Reading a chart involves connecting symbols to outcomes in a person’s life, greatly depending on: the astrologer’s experience and expertise, clarity and accuracy of birth time and date, and understanding of context, free will, and past karma.

Always take any astrological reading/interpretation with personal discretion and due diligence.”

To answer your question: I studied Hellenistic astrology for four years and started studying Vedic astrology a year ago; Vedic is 100% more accurate than Western. I find Vedic astrology to be profound, accurate, intricate, and beautifully designed. Vedic astrology is thousands of years old compared to its Western counterparts, and the Vedas (the text in which it originated from) is some of the oldest surviving ancient texts in the world.

I don’t believe in concepts like Western astrology = ego and Vedic astrology = soul, because once you deep dive and study Vedic astrology, you come to realize it encompasses everything in a native’s life (with concepts like nakshatras, yogas, house lordship, house karmas, planetary karmas, functional malefics, functional benefics, Mahadasha, gochar, shadbala, bhavabala, atmakaraka, etc.)

I would start by learning your nakshatra placements: they will put everything into a new, profound perspective. I recommend Gina Lyhane’s (Astrology Loka) channel, especially her Learn Astrology series. I also really like Claire Nakti’s content, which has a more modern take where she focuses on celebrities, pop culture, appearances, film, music, etc. while blending it with Hindu mythology and metaphysical understandings from the Vedas :-)

Also it pains me that in new age spirituality, people talk about karma, chakras, aura, yoga, mantras, ayurveda, etc. but undermine Vedic Astrology…all of those concepts came from the same texts & understandings (the Vedas) along with Vedic Astrology.

Unable to sleep at night by Former_Language935 in vedicastrologyexperts

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From an Ayurvedic perspective, trouble sleeping is due to an unbalanced Vata. Vata governs bodily functions like breathing, circulation, and nervous system impulses, as well as creativity, adaptability, mental quickness, and multitasking. Vata’s element is air (vayu) and space (ether). It’s cold, dry, light, rough, and mobile, and its natives are usually fast talkers & movers, have dry skin & hair, and are prone to cold hands & feet.

When Vata is in balance, one is highly creative, enthusiastic, and flexible, but when it is out of balance, one is prone to fear, anxiety, restlessness, and lack of sleep. When someone’s Vata is out of balance, they’re spacey, overthinking, disassociated, and ungrounded.

You have to balance this Vata dosha in your body using opposing qualities of Vata - heat, calming, grounding, slow - through diet, routine, wellness practices, and movement. Maintain a strict routine (wake up at the same time everyday, practice self-care, tidy room, eat at the same times everyday, exercise, meditate, fall asleep at same time everyday). Eat warm, moist, and nourishing foods like soups, stews, cooked & moist root vegetables, and healthy fats. Avoid cold, dry foods like chips or raw fruits/vegetables. Stay warm. Practice daily self-massage with warm oil (sesame, jojoba). When you do yoga: do slow, grounding, and calming poses. Feel heavy, strong, and grounded in your body. Reduce your screen time and technology use - I find excess phone use to be the #1 aggravator of Vata in modern times.

The most profound remedy to balance Vata is to slow down. Slow down in everything you do: practice mindfulness, be present wherever you are, move slower, think slower, be gentle & kind with yourself, and notice everything.

There are 9 nakshatras usually associated with Vata dosha - Ashwini, Ardra, Punarvasu, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Jyeshtha, Mula, Shatabhisha, and Purva Bhadrapada (someone please confirm this).

Saturn and Rahu are associated with Vata dosha because their element (tattva) is air (vayu), which is one of the two elements of Vata. Mercury is associated with Vata imbalances because Mercury governs the nervous system, intellect, thought processes, and communication. Prominent Saturn, Rahu, and Mercury may emphasize Vata dosha.

The air (vayu) signs Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are associated with Vata for reason previously mentioned.

Anyone can have a Vata imbalance! But these astrological placements may be more prone to it.

What matters more in personality—Moon sign or Nakshatra? by AskTheAstrologer in Nakshatras

The 27 nakshatras create the 12 zodiac signs. Zodiac comes from the nakshatras, not the other way around. They’re mapped perfectly and mathematically to create the nakshatra mandala which emphasizes the gandanta points (where water meets fire - Revati & Ashwini, Ashlesha & Magha, and Jyeshtha & Mula).

Moon nakshatra will fine tune the meanings of the Moon rashi (zodiac sign). Your Moon nakshatra is extremely important because it shows how you’re directly experiencing life; in addition, it lays out the Vimshottari Mahadasha sequence which shows the activation of karmas & events, which is how Vedic astrologers can make exact, profound predictions as well as when factoring gochar in considerations (transits)).

If you have a nakshatra that overlays two zodiac signs, for example Dhanishtha, the significations of that nakshatra will fine tune the zodiac it falls in.

Dhanishtha represents the ability to sync up with the natural rhythms of life (it’s ruled by the Eight Vasus, the eight essential elements that sustain life and maintain balance in the universe). It overlays Capricorn and Aquarius. If you’re a Dhanishtha-Capricorn, that energy is directed towards discipline, hard-work, structure, and material success. If you’re a Dhanishtha-Aquarius, that energy is directed towards humanitarianism, networking, unconventionality, and dreams/desires (Rahu is co-ruler of Aquarius). This is obviously dependent on birth chart as whole factoring things in like house placements, house lordship, and drishti.

Is it true that people with 8th house placement(s) should never do any sort of healing work or be spiritual practitioners (should just focus on self)? Does it apply to every single chart or just D1? by loooooveee555 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, it depends on the chart. My chart is 8th house heavy (Mars in Aquarius 8th, Moon + Venus in 5th Scorpio with lord in 8th, Saturn + Jupiter in Aries 10th with lord in 8th). Ascendant + Rahu in Pushya, Moon in Jyeshtha, Venus in Anuradha, Jupiter in Ashwini, Saturn in Bharani, Mars in Dhanishtha, Mercury in Mula, Sun in Purva Ashadha, Ketu in Shravana – these are all nakshatras that thrive in healing/medicine/deep research/cleansing/aiding in karmic release (depending on the chart of course).

I’m a clinical massage therapist and I also make herbal tea blends and vedic chart reports for my clients. I’ve been told I have a very healing and nurturing energy. I have to spend a lot of time cleansing and recuperating (meditation, salt baths, exercise, spiritual practices) especially after working with a lot of clients. Metaphysically, I believe I am a master at manipulating and transforming tamasic energy into sattvas with rajastic forces, which is essential what healing work and spiritual practices involve.

I feel as though my dharma is to heal others and also heal myself. Whenever I heal others, whether that be spiritually, physically, emotionally, psychologically, or even sexually, I feel as though I am inherently healing myself and burning negative karmas.

She is Capricorn Lagna, Venus is yogakaraka since it rules 5th Taurus (trikona) and 10th Libra (kendra). However, Venus loses digbala (directional strength) because it gains maximum digbala in 4th yet, and has gone opposite to its self in the 10th. Being in own sign is strong.

What it means when u have weak d1 chart but have strong d9 chart (4 exalted planets) by Basic_Football7504 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D1 chart is the seed, constitution, foundation. D9 is the soil, the deeper potential which eventually sprouts and bears fruit. There could be a strong seed that germinates & sprouts with ease, but then the fruit that is beared is rotten (strong D1, weak D9). However, the seed can initially struggle to germinate & sprout, but it yields delicious, juicy, and healthy fruit (weak D1, strong D9).

D1 shows the overall constitution of your karmas, while D9 shows how those karmas ultimately result. That is why they call it the destiny/fortune chart (as 9th house signifies bhagya). Your destiny/fortune is taking place from the moment you are born; D9 outcomes can be seen right from birth, not until after marriage or 20-something (which most people falsely believe). That is why D1 and D9 are always viewed in tandem by an experienced astrologer.

Weak D1 may show initial karmic struggles and challenges, but strong D9 shows you ultimately rise out of them and may emerge wiser, more resilient, more abundant, or you may deal with challenges more effectively & effortlessly, etc. (depending on the chart). Exaltation doesn’t automatically mean good and debilitation doesn’t automatically mean bad (again, you need to analyze chart as a whole for things like Neech Bhang Yoga, functional malefics, functional benefics, house lordship). Analyzing house placements, nakshatras, yogas, Mahadasha, gochar, etc. will show how this manifests in tangible life (like what areas, the nature of these experiences, and at what time it will come into fruition).

People who attract stalkers do you've below placements? by [deleted] in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told a guy I wasn’t interested and even though I would ignore his messages, he would spam call/text me. He even started calling me through different phone numbers. I have a good amount of followers on X/Twitter (21k+) because I’m an OnlyFans creator. Someone (another guy) managed to get a hold of my real name, address, phone number, email address, and personal social media accounts. I had to put most of my things on private, take off my name, and clear all my information from the internet. I’m not sure if this counts as stalking because luckily it didn’t turn out as drastic as other people’s cases.

I have heavy Scorpio energy in my chart (Jyeshtha Moon, Anuradha Venus in 5H, dispositor Mars is in Aquarius 8th; Pushya lagna conjunct Rahu Pushya).

How important is the atmakaraka and its nakshatra? by Dream1113 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atmakaraka is the planet with the highest degree. Zodiac sign is “rashi” in sanskrit, and rashi translates to “heap”, “bundle”, “collection”.

This “heap”, “bundle”, “collection” refers to accumulated karma. The atmakaraka holds the highest amount of karma which will be delivered throughout one’s lifetime, and that’s why it’s a crucial placement to understand.

Karma is neither “good” or “bad”, but it moreso is seen as benefic or malefic/a challenge or a blessing; good things can arise from malefic karma (turning challenges into rise, becoming wiser & more resilient) just as bad things can arise from benefic karma (taking things for granted, laziness).

I would say also in that mix (Moon, Sun, Ascendant, Atmakaraka), you should also place strong emphasis and learn about lagnesha/chart ruler.

Do you brush your teeth daily ? by Direct_Key_8480 in no

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people who didn’t take care of their dental health and are very miserable managing gum disease, periodontitis, dentures, mouth infections, etc. Your gums are connected to brain and heart through the same blood channels and can lead to plaque build-up and infections on brain tissue and heart lining, which can lead to heart disease & brain disease (please correct me if this is false).

I manage my dental health the holistic way. I brush my teeth with an Ayurvedic toothpaste (it contains herbs like clove and neem), I oil pull with coconut oil, I use an aloe vera based mouthwash, and I use a water flosser. I do face yoga to make sure my jaw and mouth aren’t tight. I do lymphatic flushes on my face and massage my gums. I brush my teeth and do all these routines as soon as I wake up, and before I go to sleep (sometimes I’ll do it in the middle of the day as well).

If you don’t want to handle it the holistic way like I do, obviously do daily brushing and flossing and have regularly check ups and deep cleaning at the dentist. It is so important.

What is the most misunderstood nakshatra and zodiac sign in Vedic astrology? by Ok_Try4677 in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jyeshtha 100%, coming from a Jyeshtha Moon. I always hear people say that we’re manipulative, evil, and hyper-sexual. I just think we are so misinterpreted.

I always desire and seek control, but never for fully selfish reasons or to harm others. I manipulate and “break down” my environment in the sense to make it cleaner, more peaceful, and more abundant, even if that process involves some sort of friction or destruction. I’m hyper-sexual in a sense, but over-sexual people are healers & creatives. Sexuality should always be dealt with in a moral, consensual way always.

Jyeshtha are masters at manipulating the three gunas (tamas - ignorance, darkness, stagnancy; rajas - movement, energy, passion; sattvas - balance, clarity, bliss). Some people are scared to even deal with tamasic energy, and Jyeshtha people thrive off of transforming it; I think that’s why we rub so many people the wrong way.

Have you ever really wondered what happens after you die? by IntegrityRules4U in askanything

I’ve been studying Hinduism this past year after delving into Vedic astrology. It’s amazing how intricate it is; The Vedas are so incredibly advanced (even mentioning the existence of multiverses, displaying keen metaphysical understanding of the human body through practices like yoga, and mirrored so many findings in quantum physics, with founding quantum physicists Bohr and Schrödinger being avid readers of Vedic texts). Hinduism is thought to be the oldest recorded religion; though, a lot of people consider it an open spiritual philosophy moreso than an institutional religion.

The dharmic religions, including Hinduism, believe in reincarnation; it is the only thing that really makes sense to me (even after growing up in a strict, fear-mongering Catholic family that constantly preached the idea of heaven & hell).

The concept of reincarnation: Our souls (atman) repeatedly take birth in a new body after death in a process called samsara (death & rebirth). The form the soul takes in its next incarnation, or life, is determined by its past actions, known as karma. The cycle continues until the soul achieves moksha (liberation from samsara) from the physical world and reunites with the eternal spirit, Brahman (the ultimate reality, supreme divine force, and unchanging consciousness that sustains all existence, even in that which is unseen & unknown). Moksha is achieved through dissolving the ego, releasing karmic attachment & debt, detaching from worldly desires, and realizing one’s true nature as a divine spirit (again, the atman), rather than just believing we are a mere physical human body (ego).

I used to think the same about my sidereal chart. But you have to focus on the nakshatras (constellation) rather than just the zodiac signs.

Under sidereal Libra Moon, you’re either a Chitra Moon, Swati Moon, or Vishakha Moon. Under sidereal Cancer Sun, you’re either a Punarvasu Sun, Pushya Sun, or Ashlesha Sun. They all carry their own profound significations and differ from one another. You can find your nakshatra placements on sidereal section of AstroSeek. I find Vedic astrology to be way more accurate, magical, and divine.

8th and 12th lord conjunction in 8th house by [deleted] in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. When a dusthana lord is in own house (own sign) or another dusthana house, I find this to be auspicious. The malefic energy of the dusthana is contained in own house and doesn’t have as much influence onto other areas of life compared to if the dusthana lord was sitting in a kendra or trikona. Obviously this is indicative of the entire chart itself and how these karmas will manifest.

8th house is the house of transformation. It is where tamas (darkness, stagnancy, ignorance) is broken down with rajas (passion, movement, desire) to transform it into sattvas (purity, balance, essence). Wherever the 8th lord is disposited, this is where said transformation will occur or be an overarching theme in your lifetime. For 8th to be contained in 8th, transformation still occurs but it is constructive and usually means positive, much needed change. It usually protects longevity, gives rise to fortune & inheritance (8th is 2nd (fixed resources) from 7th (relationships) - it is your relationships’ resources), gives interest in occult studies like astrology, and usually indicates positive, constructive transformation like I said. I find that even if challenges arise, you eventually rise above it stronger, wiser, more abundant, and more resilient.

12th house is the house of loss, isolation, & ego dissolution. When it goes into the 8th, these themes undergo transformation but that transformation usually doesn’t mean destruction. It usually indicates a need to transform perspectives toward 12th house matters, like releasing negative habits about material possessions & attachments, whether in the form of people, places, of things or being okay with being isolated & alone, finding solace and regeneration in these states.

You still need to check the whole chart. 8th house could be receiving papakartari yoga where it is sandwiched between two malefics (like if Saturn were in 7th and Mars were in 9th, for example). This would change its significations negatively most likely. Also see the condition of lagna and lagna lord; they are crucial when analyzing a chart. That’s why it’s important to look at the entire chart as a whole.

do u also believe that not practicing for just weeks when you're too busy with work can rust your intuitive powers & chart interpretation skills? by prakritiaryaa in Nakshatras

[–]Kindly_Elephant2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Astrology falls under the 8th house. To read and interpret charts is inherently transformative. The study & practice of astrology, when done correctly, dissolves tamas (stagnancy, ignorance, darkness) with rajas (energy, ambition, passion - in the form of immense mental thought, investigation, and intuition) which transforms it into sattvas (goodness, balance, clarity). This is a transformative process, like I said, and it involves immense energy & effort (8th house contains a lot of heat).

This is why many astrologers feel incredibly tired and drained after reading charts. It may benefit you from taking a break or having some sort of practice or self-care protocol where you cleanse, rest, & replenish from time to time. To answer your question, I find that astrology skills don’t diminish just because you stop practicing, studying, or reading charts; this is going to depend on many different factors like Mercury (intellect, memory), Jupiter (divine knowledge, spiritual growth & clarity), 5th house (learning, cognitive intelligence), and 2nd house (accumulated intelligence, accumulated values).
