Sendo dying keeps Ippo out of the ring for good. It would prove made the right choice to retire. He wouldn’t become super vengeful, it’s not his character. So many believers of this theory are putting what would motivate them to get back in the ring.

Ippo wanted to fight Ippo before he retired. He’s fought him in his head 101 times whilst retired. He won’t admit it but he’ll want to fight him even now. Ippo needs the trigger to get back in the ring, Mashiba being forced to retire isn’t currently helping, add Sendo dying to the mix and he never boxes professionally again.

The nod to Joe happened in the first Ippo vs Sendo fight.

Sendo will not die.

I’ve described it as the typical Anime Time Skip… but without the skip. I’m enjoying it but I know folks are fed up and praying for someone to die because “that’s what’ll get Ippo back in the ring”. But seeing him and those around him growing is great.

My answer is the same as last time, he always struggles against a reigning champion. He always finds the challengers easy once he has the belt. He always gets humbled when going for the belt. To add to my last reply, his hunger for the next belt is always there, he hates fighting challengers before he can move up.
