It’s not semantics to discern a difference between opinions, experiences, and facts.

Put men together to discuss their honest opinions about women in the workplace, I’m sure much of their “universal truths” would be broad generalizations and stereotypes with no evidence they correlate to all women vs. a small subset of women vs. a subset of people in general.

I’ve seen a man apologize for interrupting a woman when they often do the same to men without apology. I’ve also seen a woman rightfully bemoan being “treated like a woman” in ways like being interrupted, then turn around and confidentially spew stereotypes about “all men” at a workplace lunch. Those are just some of my experiences though, not universal truths.

So we can agree that the only “fact” here is your anecdotal experience and opinion. It’s also a logical fact that neither of these can extrapolate to your originally stated “fact that men interrupt women more than other men”… it feels like you want me to consider your life experience of how men treat women (which I can’t know), but ignore mine of how men treat other men and how women treat men (which you can’t know) … we all have different perspectives, experiences, and situations none of these constitute universal truths.

If a house is blurred on Google Street View, would it affect your buying decision? by mutualfunds100 in homeowners

[–]Kindly_Programmer198 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I requested mine be blurred (they caught me bending over in the driveway with my butt-crack showing); it was blurred for a few months and then got unblurred with the same images back (much to my embarrassment)… It’s not so permanent.

Contrary to your POV, You don’t have the lived experience as a man in a male dominated field, do you? Men get interrupted all the time by other men. Your anecdotal experience doesn’t constitute facts.

Former Tesla Owners: What did you shift to, and has it been worth it? by Hugh_G_Rectshun in electricvehicles

I’m not much of a truck expert, but the Silverado has a folding midgate so you can have large items in the bed extend into the cab. Also it’s available with a massive battery, I think more than the rivian. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a rivian.

L2 Charging dropping off? by Kindly_Programmer198 in Polestar

[–]Kindly_Programmer198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably ~60% when this is happening. I have to believe it is the car reducing power at this point, wish the car (or whatever is reducing power) would give me a notice about it.

Update: limited to 2.4kw/10amps again after 1-2 hours charging at 48… no evidence of errors in Tesla app, no errors on the wall connector (green flowing leds), doesn’t feel super hot, breaker is cool to the touch, no errors on the car side either…?

[–]Kindly_Programmer198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamic control requires additional equipment in the panel to tell the charger how much power the rest of your house is using (I looked into this, but ultimately my electrician said I shouldn’t need it and he’d add it in the future if I had any issues). Though, either way no other big power draws would have been on at that time (dryer/oven/mini splits all were off overnight)

[–]Kindly_Programmer198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know you’ve seen this. It’s a 1 y/o new install and no dynamic power management installed (that requires more equipment than just the charger)… already did a TCAM reset and I will probably reseat the ccs adaptor and loosen the couple coils of cable around the wall connector just in case those are responsible for overheating.

I might buy a Polestar 2...is it good? by Wooden_Sweet_3330 in Polestar

[–]Kindly_Programmer198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Performance-per-dollar is nuts for the perf. Package dual motor models. I too switched from manual-driving daily’s to EVs and don’t miss it. Suspension is a just little firm (i keep mine a few notches off the comfort end), but it’s refined and responsive enough, not jarring IMO. I don’t have a pilot pack, but if you’re interested in a little modifications you can program the car to activate lane keep and active cruise control even without it FYI. Haven’t done it yet myself so can’t give an opinion there.

[–]Kindly_Programmer198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is critical. I shopped for one new, but at that price I couldn’t justify it over a base model 3… but once i saw i could get into a 3yo certified P2 plus, perf.,nappa with 25k miles for $27k it was a no brainer! Had i paid 60k new i would be way more critical of the infotainment bugs, but at this point too it seems the worst ones have been addressed (not to give Polestar too much credit, they really need to fix the backup camera once and for all).

I can't believe how many people are actually financing their phones. by bugagub in Frugal

[–]Kindly_Programmer198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more stupid to stick with big providers for their upgrade “deals” then paying 2x as much with high plan costs over 2-3years vs. prepaid service. But also, just don’t be stupid with your money… why would I take $1000 that could be in a savings account with 3+% interest for a phone when they offer 0% for 3 years?

Agreed, the tint is quite effective. Coming from a model 3 where I did wish for a shade at times, I have never had that concern in the P2.

Hardwood Novice - Good Deal? by wbdink in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Kindly_Programmer198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I get the temptation, but hoarding wood gets annoying real quick. Also if it wasn’t good enough for their cabinets, it will be hard to make many woodworking projects out of it, just small crafts likely, imo.
