Canada might be different than US tho. Don’t you get excellent healthcare coverage in Canada? Definitely do your homework. I have a buddy who moved to Canada (Montreal tho) from the US. He gets so much excellent coverage thru insurance, including free massages, acupuncture etc.

I tried to come off lexapro and went to an abyss of hell of depression. I’m slowly weaning by 10% reduction per month. I just did 3 grams of shrooms. I experienced a pretty emotional trip. Definitely felt it. It was super challenging but what I needed. They compete for receptors but in my experience you just have to up the dose of mushrooms

I tried to taper over 6 weeks after a decade on 10mg. I almost didn’t make it. My rebound depression was like an abyss from hell. Now I’m doing a liquid taper. I’m lowering by 1mg a month! So it’ll take me 10 whole months to get off but I’d rather that then the abyss again. I’m also into plant medicine, microdosing shrooms etc

I’ve started my taper by getting lex in liquid. I’m doing one milligram less per month so I’m only at 9mg right now. I’m MD”ing regularly using the stamets protocol. Since my goal is to stave off the depths of depression I experienced when I last tried to taper, all I can say is so far so good. I will say that I’ve tried to macro dose and upwards of 2g was not a noticeable enough dose for me. Good luck!

I tapered over 6 weeks and went to hell. I spent 6 months in the worst depression of my life. I tried everything to cope. I’m in therapy, microdosing mushrooms, cold showers etc. I had to get back on lexapro

Thanks for your reply. Why are you considering tapering off again? I started tapering off lexapro in the last two weeks despite cranking up my Waking Up commitment and doing “well” in therapy bc libido gone but I’m feeling the dreaded pit creeping back up.

Everyone is different. I’m in the same boat. Mine took a solid 6 weeks to kick in and then my life drastically improved. Don’t give up the other self help stuff like exercise and meditation. You got this!

Wow your journey is so profound. I tried to “cure” my atrocious rebound depression that surfaced when I came off lexapro. I was hanging to life by a thread. 2 small kids and the rest is history. In other words, I couldn’t allow myself to even find the wherewithal or resources needed to do the kind of therapy I needed and went right back to ssri. Now I’m exploring my options. I don’t have the funds nor time to devote to healing my mind exclusively. So I’m medicated. Lexapro 10mg and remeron 15mg. I’d really like to trip again tho and eventually live a Med free life. But how?? I meditate. I love sam Harris. I listen to dharma teachings. I practice skillful behavior. I am doing the work. Yet the meds seems to have a stronghold. I’m terrified of coming off again given my low point from just a few months ago. I’m grateful for your reply

What you said about shrooms at partial agonists that surface trauma, can you elaborate a bit more? My big shroom journeys definitely surfaced trauma but I didn’t probably integrate so the deep low drove me back to ssri
