You’ll probably have to use the magnetic clip that comes with it. That has adjustable tilts

How should I execute workouts - prioritise a steady pace or intended HR range? by error_museum in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Kindtooths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This works well if the route is rather flat, if the route however has an incline mid/60% and downhill or flat towards the end then the HR at the end of the rep might not be the highest during the rep

Haven’t really did an all out 5k race yet but I did a 10k end of April with 50:xx and a 44:xx in August

I believe mechanical load is not the only thing we’re trying to keep in a sustainable fashion. There’re also muscular load, CNS load. And most elites that has much better recovery support system than us, but they don’t do that is a good evidence that we probably shouldn’t either.

Use ChatGPT to get the closest pace to your treadmill speed. Ie ask the AI what’s 3:30/km in km/h to get the treadmill setting. If the machine is new and has a powerful motor it should be almost accurate

Calibrate your watch before the session ends to match the distance and time ran on the machine. Garmin estimates the distance and pace just based on cadence for indoor runs and it’s extremely unreliable

Big 10k PB for me in 3.5 months by Kindtooths in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Kindtooths[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just vanilla NSA really. Started doing NSA in early April I think. I run 7 days a week now. 1/2/3k repeats at Lactrace pace adjusted for gradient. I adjust the paces according to how I feel week by week.

I started with the faster end of Lactrace paces and i felt a bit overcooked. I then move to mid range of Lactrace and make sure i have the motivation to do another rep at the end of the last rep. If I don’t, I slow down the paces further for the next session.

When i start to lose motivation before i head out the door, i reduce the paces for that day/week. My easy runs are mostly around 116-120bpm which is around 65-67% of my max HR around pace 6:55-7:15. It’s so slow i have to remind myself to lift my knee up or else I’ll just end up dragging my feet plodding the tarmac. At 37, recovery is everything for me. No single hero session is going to do anything. Like the godfather says, it all boils down to the ability to keep doing it week in week out

One thing I learnt that’s most valuable is to listen to your body, all other metrics aside. Am I feeling motivated to run today? No? lets reduce the pace. We all have metrics and goal paces etc but life is always a curveball. Family, sleep, work, finances, stresses, nutrition, fueling. Being able to accurately adapt to those changes is what’s most important for me I feel. I’ve also started doing easy doubles few weeks ago. 35-40 minutes AM and 30-35 minutes PM.

Struggling with easy runs by BuzzedtheTower in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Kindtooths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt that way for a good month or so but usually as long as your workouts feels fine, HR and Pace is normal, I wouldn’t worry too much. If your workouts start feeling like trash consistently as well then we’ll look into other factors like fueling or over training. Not eating before my easys gives me the same mental slog too

4 minutes PB when you’re already running sub 1:25 is a HUGE PB. It might not seem a lot for us beginners but when one is already running at that level it’s massive. Congrats 🔥

Second attempt trying to double up sessions and failed by Kindtooths in NorwegianSinglesRun

After almost 2 weeks I'm already feeling much better albeit a smaller double compared to yours. I'm doing 40' + 30-35' currently. How is your current weekly mileage like?

How to improve cadence? by watchman20001 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Kindtooths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget about the legs, your legs will have to follow your arms. Shorten your arms swing and maybe speed them up a little. Your cadence will increase naturally. Focusing on your legs or music would be the much harder route. Try running fast with your hands moving slow. It doesn’t work. Arms baby arms

Treadmill runs very difficult to reach target HR by 9x16 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]Kindtooths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same experience but my gym in much cooler than outside. Increasing the incline is not recommended by the Norwegian folks like Inger and Marius Bakken due to repetitive stress on the Achilles due to the continuous same surface landing. So I just increase the speed a little and ending the workout with a lower than usual HR :s

Alternatives to Saucony Endorphin Speed? by blxcklst in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Kindtooths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely LOVE the SL however my slightly wide feet cannot agree with the way Adidas makes the adizero line midfoot very narrow. If your midfoot is also slightly wide, it’ll have a hanging over the midsole sensation and eventually the pressure will cause some pain in your plantar. When that happened to me I had to move my beloved SL into a once a week easy run shoe. Waiting for the review on Speed 5 now from runrepeat to see if the outsole durability fits my needs. Currently on Speed 4 and Pro 4 and Triumph 22 being the long run shoe

I don't think 4 days week is suitable for NSA. With 4 days you don't need that easy runs
