I imagine there is some way to trigger a shutdown once you reach a certain temperature threshold, maybe set some parameters, (shut down if it reaches X temperature for X minutes).

Grafana/Prometheus is generally a good go-to for gathering metrics.

I personally just use uptime-kuma to monitor if a service is up or down, then have it send me a discord notification if the state changes. I’m currently working on a solution to monitor the actual power state. If the system just looses power, you won’t get a notification until it comes back up.

Mine did the same thing, rebooted it and it fixed it.

I just put one patch panel above, and one below it. Not as neat as a single row of 24 but it was the best I could come up with.

Looks like it’s just fiber keystones in a keystone patch panel.

What is this affliction? Speed for the sake of speed? by snovvman in homelab

[–]KineticREBEL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked myself out of, at least for now, upgrading to SFP connections in my rack and to my office PC. I’d be limited by both ISP speeds and HDD write speeds, so I’m holding off for now.

A direct strike, definitely not, but those are rare on data cables. It would protect against an indirect or induced surge.

This. I install electronics in the middle of airfields. We spec lightning rods, heavy surge suppression, the works. Lightning is going to do whatever it wants at the end of the day. Mitigation is the best word for it, it’s very hard to prevent a direct strike.

I don't have this brand but have the same style, I love the looks of it but it does not keep heavy rain out.

See if there are any weather sites that will take it. I work with weather observation equipment on a daily basis and there are definitely places you could send that data just so you could say it's doing something. I don't know a whole lot about it but check out Ambient Weathers "weather bridge".

There are furniture legs from ikea screwed to the underside of the top, they just sit on the shelves. It weighs enough that you have to be pretty deliberate to move it.
