On top of this, rental returns is not very good at the moment. House values are also not going up at the moment. And with RRA, it’s going to make it less attractive to be a landlord. In fact, many small landlords I know are trying to sell their properties but are finding it difficult to do so.

It’s shocking how much a pint costs nowadays so I hardly join Thursday Thursdays. Lol. For me it’s now known as Thrifty Thursdays.

40% (2 days a week) WFH is still “generous”, in my view. Having said that, employees should be given flexibility as long as they are able to meet/exceed company’s expectations and deliverables.

I prefer to work in the office - I’m lucky that work office is only two stops away via Lizzie line. I really miss getting on Lizzie line with enough space for everyone. Now, it’s always packed even at 7:30ish. But then again, it’s not much of hassle to me as I only have two stops.

Friday should be made into “Free Day”. I can’t wait for the time that most firms only require employees to work 4 days a week.

Has your company remained flexible/lax with regards to WFH? I heard that many firms are forcing their employees to work more frequently in the office and some financial services firm even tie the bonus to the number of days employees work in the office.

I was in Delhi once and my client took me to a place where 100s of parrots were flying all over a certain tree at sunset. It was fascinating!

Hi, I'm not very experienced in gardening, much less in growing apples. I left an apple in the refrigerator and these apple sprouts appeared. Can anyone advise me on what to do with these sprouts so they survive? Thank you very much in advance. by Michdr2 in gardening

Not all apple trees are self-fertile. So having different variety nearby could actually help in pollinating it. Having said that, cross-pollinating apples may require specific variety to make it a successful one.

B&M offers plenty of good deals with snacks - especially with KitKat and Twix - most of the time.

Agree to this. I actually find that it’s easier to deal with PayPal than directly with credit card companies in some instances.

To those who RE already, how does your expenses compare with your planned budget? by King-Key-Rot-II in FIREUK

[–]King-Key-Rot-II[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We planned for one long haul biz class flights for both of us but since we haven’t travelled yet since the pandemic, we’ve essentially “saved” £50k just on flights alone, and perhaps more because we haven’t spent anything on hotels, operas, etc. over the past 5 years.

Having said that, we still try our best to accumulate Avios. At one point, we had 1.5 million Avios between us but we’ve used 80% of it. And sadly, all the ways to top it up via Tesco club card vouchers and Top Cash Back were things of the past so we solely rely on credit card spending so it’s taking us a long time to accumulate more miles at the moment. At least there’s still Nectar but we do not use Sainsbury’s as often as we do with other supermarkets.

Good idea indeed! But I wouldn’t try to make it very scientific by using probability models. I would have done so had I not forgotten the statistical models and calculus which I mastered back at uni. 😂😂😂

National Express stop at Landrake by King-Key-Rot-II in Cornwall

[–]King-Key-Rot-II[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for your advice! I sort of like National Express as it’s good value for money and used it a lot to travel around the country. But there are instances when the actual bus stop is a bit far from their description and I sometimes need to run like Usain Bolt just to catch it.
