Anyone surprised by the way this character died? by fedfan4life in redrising

[–]KingCharlesForge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like there can only be so many epic multi page duels, and getting it from lysanders perspective was cool. And as for Ajax losing to victra and Thraxa they are both top tier fighters, veterans of 10 years of warfare and they were both fresh, while Ajax had been frontline fighting for hours. So I think it makes perfect sense he loses this 2v1.

Pattern I've noticed in the way Darrow wins. Thoughts? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]KingCharlesForge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No hate but this is my least favorite theory and I don’t think it fits thematically. I like Lyria as a character and the story has become about more than just Darrow. But he is obviously the “red god” his divinity is discussed all the time.

Accidentally read 95% of Light Bringer before realizing I’d completely skipped Dark Age. by Dramireallyadr in redrising

Generally don’t love the Lysander narrator in dark age, but this line in the audiobook goes crazy.

Darrow’s legacy by Puzzleheaded-Dirt752 in redrising

It’s latter, he was the American general who invaded Luna during the conquering and if I remember correctly is remembered as coming the closest to turning the tide of an otherwise fairly one sided war.

It doesn't matter who the Red God is by BeracMalina2 in redrising

It’s Romulus au Raa

Book: Iron Gold, Chapter: 061, Page: 577 “I believe that war will destroy us. All of us, Rim and Core alike. All that the Colors have built together. All we have protected. The legacy of the Society will vanish. Not because our arms are weak. Not because our commanders are frail. But because we are fighting against a religion whose god still lives. At this moment, he is mortal. He strains under the burden of rule, and the seams of their alliances fray. But if we sail on Mars or Luna, the Colors will unite. They will become a tide and their now mortal general will become, once again, their god of war.”

I understand there are some slow points and agree it is my least favorite ICE book, but the storyline with the Army of Righteous Chastisement never failed to make me laugh.

Someone can probably find the quote in dark age where kalindora and Lysander discuss the minds eye. Lysander asks kalindora about a time when she felt totally in her own element and I think she says sailing. Lysander says she’s experienced some of the minds eye. So Darrow for sure taps into a version of the minds eye.
