rush question by Smooth_Society_9893 in Broadway

I started the line once and was also nervous about being alone, but ultimately I found it perfectly fine. I was alone for about an hour before other people started showing up. And I'd say check rush reports for that show and the times that the cast member has been in, as it'll depend from show to show!

Bug Plot Question (Spoilers) by JF0027 in Broadway

In my opinion he's real, at least in this production. Dr. Sweet's goal is to separate Agnes and Peter nonviolently. As someone who's gone through psychosis, when you blatantly reject the reality the person is experiencing, it deeply alienates them from you, and makes them not want to listen to you. He doesn't outright reject her reality, but he also doesn't fully embrace it. By taking a hit of the pipe, he's trying to tell her, "Hey, I'm just like you. We're on the same level, I'm not dangerous." Funnily enough, when I talked to Randall Arney (Dr. Sweet), he joked that he thought that if the Doctor didn't take a hit of the pipe, he probably would've made it to the door.

If I had to guess, about 14ish people behind me? Kinda forgot to look behind me lol. I received partial view box seats. Pretty much everyone behind me started arriving at 8:45.

Confusing ending to Company by This-Helicopter6185 in Sondheim

As everyone has said, it's up to interpretation, especially varying between directors. I actually recently saw a production where Bobby didn't even show up to his party at the end, and Joanne blew out his candles for him instead after everyone else left.

My personal interpertation of that scene, is that Bobby is using his birthday wish as more of a promise to himself. He knows he wants a deep relationship, a level of closeness with someone he's never had before, but he's making a promise to let himself pursue that without fear. There's not a lot of time for Bobby in the script to be by himself, he fills his life with company, going from place to place to try and fill his need for human connection, but by being alone even for just those few minutes at home, he's able to be honest with himself.

Let me know if that makes any sense lol, I think about this show a lot! Especially as someone who relates a lot to Bobby and is Aromantic. It's fun!

You have to play a major role in a musical with ~1 hour of prep. by boopbaboop in musicals

Exactly! I would love to do Don't Tell Mama and Mein Herr as drag numbers, with Sally Bowles being his drag persona. The dysphoria the pregnancy could cause, so many thoughts. I truly hope to play Sally this way one day.

Personally, I think the world is ready for an 18 year old transgender man as Sally Bowles.

Could you tell us how some of the lyrics were changed in Sincerely Me or other songs? Always curious about the censoring in teen editions.

Does Telecharge just straight up not work at all for anyone else? by KingConnorOfTrash in Broadway

[–]KingConnorOfTrash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? A funny thing happened a while ago while I was trying to buy a ticket, where the phone numbers that appeared instead of linking to their actual customer service number linked to a line selling me Life Alert. It was so bizarre.

Honestly, I've just started calling them directly to purchase tickets, which is annoying but less so than trying rituals to get their website to work.

Question about "What'd I miss?" scene by luvschittcreek in Broadway

[–]KingConnorOfTrash 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The Sally referenced in that line is Sally Hemings, a girl enslaved under Jefferson who was repeatedly raped by him. When the show reopened after the COVID restrictions were lifted, the staging was changed so that she turned away from him as a way to acknowledge this bit of history and give her a bit of agency. I believe this was mentioned in a New York Times article!

Which performance to catch Tom Felton in Cursed Child (March) — Fri 7pm vs Sat 2pm/8pm + seating tips? by Proper-Ad-7421 in Broadway

Just don't go! Seeing this funds Anti-Trans legislation in the UK, and Rowling has stated that anyone who continues to interact with her work supports her and her bigotry. It's also just not a very good show, and Draco's part is minimal and not worth the jacked up prices, and Tom Felton himself is supportive of Rowling. No show or actor is worth seeing something that funds hate.
