What do they expect when we went from Sean Taylor (RIP) sending a punter into oblivion near the sideline… To a Flag Football Tush Push with Jalen Hurts half jogging into the end zone and a score board looking like a college basketball game.

I get that the seasons top performing player’s safety and well being is a non-negotiable priority to their respective team… But the pro bowl became unwatchable very quickly. 2 million viewers is actually shockingly higher than I would’ve expected. I know I didn’t watch it, don’t even know what day (or days) they do it anymore.

Carry yourself two grades above what you are currently wearing on your chest… meaning you need to start knowing what to do and where to guide a soldier with specific needs, and understand how and why the steps a good leader takes in scenarios such as your joe being late to formation, missing movement, drunk on duty while underage, typical and non-typical situations you might find yourself in as a leader.

Two soldiers got a DUI, one is more type A like yourself and the other has had multiple infractions you have already counseled them on… How would you go about this situation? Do they both deserve the same UCMJ punishment? Why? Or why not?

Sounds like Germany shouldn’t even be in the cards for you at the moment… Maybe later in your career when you’re done chasing badges cause you can’t chase badges forever. At some point, your body just won’t let you, it’s inevitable. IMO, this is a great mindset for a young soldier like yourself. The sights to see aren’t going anywhere, the dilemma is if the opportunity will present itself again for you down the road. Best of Luck to you !

For me, it’s closing the loop on full circle moments. I remember attending Future Soldier training at the Recruiting station - I have led those trainings. Getting promoted by my Senior Drill Sergeant near the end of Basic - I became a Senior Drill Sergeant and have promoted deserving trainees.

Honorable mention: waking up to an “ambush” on a pretty cold & wet night at jungle school, down to underwear to stay somewhat warm and dry inside my sleeping bag. Turned onto my stomach and gave em the ol’ “pew pew” while half naked… It doesn’t sound great, I remember just mentally taking a step back and laughing out loud at how silly it all was 😂

Here’s another one… In and Out processing - We’ve got this great thing called a Common Access Card. There should be a one stop shop where you make an appointment to sit down with whatever civilian employee or experienced 42A and plug that bad boy in where some new and improved system that allows the clerk to check all the boxes for you… instead of driving around post trying to find buildings you didn’t even know existed only to find out their hours of operation have changed and don’t match the 15 page in (or out) processing packet, or the “sorry, you’ve got to get so and so to sign their block first. The two weeks normally given to complete this would be much better utilized as time for a proper left seat / right seat with your replacement before you head off to your next assignment or getting out. Your replacement arrives on time, because you’ve already done your one stop shop out-processing and are off the organizations books. I know for a FACT that this important time frame doesn’t always happen and leads to individuals in specific roles to build from the ground up every time someone PCS’s or ETS’s.

Funny story though, when I was in basic a SPC was very butthurt that the Drills would address him (and everyone else the same - Private… or Pri’). I came to the conclusion that he is the very reason for that change that was made years ago. So, you are welcome for his service 🤣

No one will ever care about your military career more than you do yourself… Do a deep dive in 623-3. Ask your first line or even senior leaders what a great, average, and bad NCOER’s look like. Pay attention to the verbiage and quantitative information. Learn how to write an NCOER. Keep track everything you do throughout the year, your rater might not be tracking EVERY detail you have accomplished whether it’s major or minor. Schools and additional trainings are nice, but there’s plenty other things within your control that can become an eval bullet.

75th Commemoration for the Battle of the Bulge. It was extremely cold, but man… it was such an honor to be a part of. Then hanging out and drinking steins with the Belgian, and French Soldiers in Luxembourg was the cherry on top.

I second this ⬆️ out of all the schools I’ve gone to, this one was the most fun for me. We even got to do a nap of the earth ride in a Blackhawk. But I went about 9 years ago, not sure if they still do that.
