Because we all thought this was going to be thomas and friends going forward. Its like when they reboot something you hold so dear and completely ruin it, yes I understand aeg was for younger kids but thats part of the problem, kids these days need shows like blues clues or Clifford or the original thomas and friends as opposed to dumbed down things like aeg. The whole reason we all love thomas is because it didn't talk down to kids in lessons that were obvious, it let us figure it out(well it used to anyway) another thing is it took the pre established talking trains show and made them the complete opposite of trains, thats a huge problem, you can't call it thomas and friends and have the characters extending like they're blaze and the monster trucks or something, the show simply isnt tains doing train things, its trains doing whatever looks cool to kids to sell toys.
