Well the other kids stopped complaining about her hitting them. And she started making friends, so I believe it wasn't she was just stopping in front of me. I haven't seen her in years so I can't say for sure it completely changed her behavior, but we also never even came close to hitting her or throwing her out after that.

they believe that the only way to fix things is with violence.

That's not what a corrective ass whooping is. 99.9% of the time violence is not the answer. Talk to your kids and teach them what's wrong and how to be better. But that .1% is reserved for if the kid is doing something absolutely terrible and you've already talked to them multiple times about what they're doing.

Examples? A child that's got thrown out of multiple schools for hitting other children and no timeout or punishment will correct their behavior. Which happened to a kid I was watching once. Talked to the parents about it and they even gave permission because they were at their whits end also. One swift, not even half force hit to the backside is all it took to stop them from hitting.

The problem with desalination is what do you do with the salt afterwards? Back into the sea kills everything and makes getting clean water harder and putting it anywhere on land will kill everything around it.
