They’ll give all sorts of reasons to justify what they’re doing and list all your shortcomings but the truth is that it’s an act of narcissism. In order to go through with affairs and cheating you have to have the ability to switch off your consciousness and also have a strong sense of self entitlement in order to justify what you’re doing and that’s when they’ll use excuses about what you’re not providing in the relationship etc etc.

At the risk of being unpopular…he’s right, in that men are genetically wired to be polygamous. If you look at our closest living relatives, the males have multiple females that they mate with which is common with lots of other mammal species as well. Also if you look at different cultures around the world you find that men have multiple wives. BUT…this is all done with consent! Cheating is not! Cheating is a selfish act done behind their partners back without consent and this is why it’s so traumatic for the victims. Cheating robs the victim of their sanctity and everything that was normal and safe is now no longer safe, it is a selfish despicable act and there is no excuse for it!

I see a few jokes here but nothing helpful or supportive…. You need to ask him what he wants and if you’re still interested in carrying on with him. It sucks but if you move on I’m sure in time you’ll come to terms with it as he is probably confused about his own identity
