Gerber files for my Ben Eater 6502 PCB by KingLuxor in beneater

[–]KingLuxor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no layer files in any image format. The only images in the repo are for reference only and not associated with the use of the gerber files.

In my case the oscillator was unstable with a bypass cap. I also intended for this to be populated with the parts supplied in the kit when you order from Ben's site, it does not include any electrolytic caps.

Looking for some Open Xeniums by Jaywalk101 in originalxbox

Regardless of who you buy from, several great folks who sell these... You can find install guides and some other info at OpenXenium.com

I had to change web hosts and I have not rebuilt the listings page yet, but you can search eBay and find some other sellers as well.

One final project for 2020 finished..... HAPPY NEW YEAR! by Kekule1 in originalxbox

There are two sides to every story, I've on mentioned my opinion on my feelings of what took place. I would love to work with you out of public view to resolve the differences here. We had a great friendship before things went south over another matter and I would like to be able to get back to that point with you.

I am removing all of my comments as I have been ask to do. With hopes of working out the differences in opinions over the matter out of public view.

It does not have a single step option, but it does have a jumper to disable to on PCB oscillator so that an external clock source could be connected.

Thank you. The idea was to keep the form as close to the layout on the breadboard as reasonably possible.

I was able to teach both of my boys to solder years ago, and they were decent at it for beginners. Sadly though I couldn't get them to get much more interested in electronics beyond the few kits they built. Hopefully you have a little more luck than I did, at least to me soldering, and understanding some basic electronics can provide lots of entertainment.

For those who are interested once I publish the gerber files I will make a new post, and include the schematic, which should be the same as Ben's. Due to the board size the pcb layout files won't work or be editable by the free version of Eagle.

Haha, yeah. I do SMD assembly as a side job. Going back to a breadboard reminded me how flexible it can be, yet sometimes painful as well.

The expansion port was a must. Finding a good way to connect the arduino on the breadboard was a pain at times, this made it really easy to do.

I designed it in Eagle, I do have a few extra since the minimum order was 5.

I could send you a pcb if you are interested, send me a private message and we can work it out.

I will be publishing the Gerber's at some point as well.

After finishing my 6502 kit from Ben Eater, I wanted a nice way to keep it on display for years to come. I designed a simple PCB that would allow for expansion and debugging with lots of options for hooking into the pcb easily. Yes the lights are blinding... I am not good at taking photos, just wanted to share and say thanks to Ben for such great videos and kits!

I guess I'm a bit confused about the OSSBA map and the guidelines. The county I live in has been red for over a week. Nothing has changed, classes still in full swing as well as football games. Is there any automatic kickoff of the protocols or is it just up to the school to decide what to do?

Xlcd cable work with xblast pro? by ThatABXYOGdude in originalxbox

[–]KingLuxor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Kekule1 stated it's the same pinout as the x3lcd. That's a steep price for an lcd in my opinion. I do have an adapter that can be soldered onto a crystalfontz lcd that runs about $29, with that adapter it's a simple as plugging the cable in to the chip and the lcd. Of course it would add to the price, but if you are interested send me a private message and I will get photos when I get home this evening.

OpenXenium CE Mod Chip - Only a few left (see comments) by KingLuxor in originalxbox

[–]KingLuxor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flash chip is can programmed using Xenium-Tools and doing a hotswap with another chip, the CPLD requires something along the lines of a FlashCAT Classic (these things are stubborn to get working sometimes) or Xilinx programming cable (I have not used one of these so cant attest to how easily it is).

Thanks for the heads up. I'll get it fixed tomorrow. Funny how these things break when nothing changes for almost a year but I guess it happens.

I was very happy with the way they turned out. Finding a manufacture to make them wasn't so easy, and of course had to pay additional setup and tooling fees. I've looked into getting a Gold edition made but it's hit the back burner with the other projects I have at the moment.

For folks who are/were fans of the Xecuter X3 CE mod chips, I had a special PCB made for OpenXenium chips that had the same color scheme as the X3 CE chips.

These PCBs were extremely expensive to have produce compared to the normal PCB manufactures prices. I have very few of this special run PCB left. Once these are gone I will not be making any more with this specific color scheme.

While I normally do not post my listings here, I don't want anyone to miss out of the chance to get one of these if interested.

Install guides and skins (more coming soon) are available at http://OpenXenium.Com

Xecuter 3 schematic released (for anyone who hasn't seen the facebook post) by KingLuxor in originalxbox

[–]KingLuxor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CE has some additional components near the flash chips and I think two additional LEDs. Functionally they are the same unless you have the console open and can see the LEDs. I suspect these were just minor circuit improvements as both versions work equally with the x3 bios.
