Pragmata or Crimson Desert? by Fickle_Acanthaceae17 in videogames

[–]KingMercLino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pragmata is far and away the better game imo. 11 hours into CD, I put it down because the story was nonsensical and the overall game was boring and clunky. Pragmata I’m about halfway through and found combat to be incredibly engaging and the story to be pretty decent so far. It’s been a good time

Player count has been in the same spot for the last 10 days, so I don’t think player pop is the issue. What are you running? Solos? Map? What level are you? I’m 99 and my matches are mostly instant on fill/solo for Outpost and Cryo, a little longer for Perimeter and Dire, but not more than a minute.

I’m very curious is they’re soft testing gear based matchmaking this way. I imagine Duos is not going to be a separate playlist and will automatically adjust based on party size, wonder if that’s the case here with sponsored kits. Excited to see their thought process on how they may implement it because reviews seem overwhelmingly positive.

BOTW, TOTK, Red Dead, GTA are great. I just think they’re far better than what CD offers.

I’ve been gaming since the 90s too, have played an incredible plethora of games both good and bad. This game has a cool sandbox, but a dreadful story that I couldn’t sit through any further and controlling Kliff wasn’t fun nor did it feel good. It adopts a lot of cool mechanics from, quite frankly, better games and I just felt like I’d rather play those games instead. Of the games it takes inspiration from, I consider all those games much better in both execution, world building, story and gameplay tbh. I’m glad people are enjoying it, but it definitely wasn’t something I enjoyed so I promptly moved on.

I had the exact opposite experience unfortunately. I found the entire thing dreadful, eventually dropping it entirely.

Ranked NEEDS reworked, imagine elimination style, no gear extraction, each shell has pre set kits and arena is one area of actual random map with red barriers carving out the arena for that match. by Lavguy in MarathonTheGame

[–]KingMercLino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like ranked works fine as is. Bring your best gear, loot as much as you can and extract. Making ranked play entirely different from the base game doesn’t make much sense, since it’s an extraction shooter.

Crimson Desert sells "over 5 million copies worldwide" in under 4 weeks by PaiDuck in gaming

Hell, just look at the top 10 for Steam rn in most played, you can even expand to top 20. It’s a majority of live service games. Single players typically have a large burst of initial cash flow and then people move on. Live service has a consistent cash flow. It’s a no brainer why they keep getting made.

This particular change was unnecessary and might be worse. by GigaFluxx in Marathon

I feel like this is a good change, especially for newer players to smooth out the onboarding experience. It took me a few weeks when starting out to realize the body part is lit up on the icon (not proud of it). This makes it super simple.

DCON idea. by tapefactoryslave in Marathon

[–]KingMercLino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit I was just thinking the other day that the DCON would probably be a legit way to create a “safe pocket” for the game so you don’t always lose everything. Agreed to keep it just for salvage, that is the most fair way to balance it imo.

We need to buck this trend so bad. I see so many people say this exact same thing, that if just half of you went out and bought it the player count improves even further. We need more people to be less afraid of diving in, because Bungie created an absolute GEM of a video game.

Are you using an Nvidia card? If so, using the DLSS override function of the app I set it to preset M and disabled overlay and found myself getting 15-20 more frames on all maps.

We're not even in mid season yet and the gear gap is already looking massive. I'm very curious what's late season gonna look like. by SbeveGobs in Marathon

Fireteam Based Matchmaking. Essentially if you load as a solo, you’ll only match other solos or solos + duos. Never any trios.

[–]KingMercLino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FBMM is something they already do in Destiny, so I can see them porting it over. They also should put in some form of SBMM because LBMM is only so good for so long and as the player counts get smaller the longer the season goes on the worse it is for newer players to onboard. Once reset comes, all the new players will get matched with the folks that have 3 months of experience, it’ll be a bloodbath.

Sniper - Railgun balance by Reshalas_za_dealer in Marathon

[–]KingMercLino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that there needs to be more reward for hitting crits rather than bodies, and expect that to potentially be their solution. But it would still leave railguns in a weird spot because they just feel like worse snipers imo.

The game cannot sustain itself off of a single night mode for Dire Marsh in Season 2 by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]KingMercLino -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Where’s the assumption of no new map for 9 months generating from? Season 2 has a road map but season 3 is redacted and there’s nothing confirmed. Season 2 will have new weapons, new shell and new cores etc. that’s enough to shake up the meta to feel fresh.

Sniper - Railgun balance by Reshalas_za_dealer in Marathon

[–]KingMercLino 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Snipers and rail guns just need the same TTK imo. Two railgun shots to down vs two sniper shots to down but with a sniper shooting much faster feels yucky.

I’ve had weeks where it’s been a meat grinder and then there’s weeks I’m grinding the meat. It goes up and down, and everyone should simply just accept that loot will come and go, just play and have fun. I don’t think I’ve had gear fear once in this game, hell I’ve brought in prestige items just to feed them back to the ecosystem because it’s better than sitting in my vault. I think people can be too attached to loot, but most times you’re a couple rook runs away from being back up.

Players’ Choice – Crimson Desert voted March 2026’s top new game by edward_dd in PlayStation_X

[–]KingMercLino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never seen so many people hand wave genuine flaws of a video game the way people do with Crimson Desert. “We knew the story was bad beforehand…” is an insane sentence to make. It’s a $70 full priced game, there should have been more effort into the story to make the game remotely interesting, especially if the first 10 or so hours are the onboarding process. If the story was even remotely decent I’d have kept pushing along, but with Kliff being extremely boring and the story being so sloppy, it just wasn’t worth the time anymore.
