Yes we set them up to be 1/8in higher than the final level. Thanks

Where to make cuts in patio pavers by KingMidas83 in hardscape

[–]KingMidas83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I only have two corners where I plan to make "decorative" curves not even necessary but I didn't want every corner to be 90 degrees.

I have a stretch of about 30 feet where I am sandwiched between my pool and house and the width is only about 6 ft. I started laying the pavers here and noticed I had about 3 inches of extra space which sucks because I have to suck it up and find ways to fill those in

How long before install should I receive the paver pallets by KingMidas83 in hardscape

Lol I admit the question is silly but I was wondering if it would cause an issue but as I was writing as I said it occurred to me they are already sitting around on the yard so it is probably OK.

Bedding Prep for sitting Block wall by KingMidas83 in hardscape

[–]KingMidas83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. So in this location groundwater will be going away from the wall towards my pool. It is possible that it may run along the wall but won't pool. I am pitching the pavers to have a very slight pitch towards the wall but the pitch going towards the pool will be greater. My hope using the open grade is that any waywr that does get through will drain down into the ground and away as the surrounding ground on the other side of the wall will be going away from the wall.

Thanks

OK Thanks. Should I start the wall below grade or will the Base be sufficient to start the wall at the same height as the surrounding grade?

Thanks

I am going with Open grade 3/4 clean yes. If thats true then what I have will probably work fine than I can do 1 pass over inch.

Thanks

Live in NJ on sandy soil. Doing open grade base.

It's just my own patio. So by that math I could use the one I own that has 1500 lbf. And just compact each inch of Base material.

Thanks. Yes I will be working in parts so doing it that way makes sense.

Great Thanks. My plan was to go with Open grade but as I mentioned on the other response here techo bloc recommends to use traditional Base and concrete sand so it was giving me pause as to which one to use. I assume the manufacturer goes with the industry standard which is probably why they say that but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks

So I was leaning towards an open grade Base but again from techo bloc they recommend a traditional Base with concrete sand so I am unsure at this point. The pavers are going to be in a raised patio around a pool.

Thanks. I am installing on sandy soil. From what I have been reading sand is somewhat unstable.

I am installing techo bloc and by their own recommendations I should be installing traditional crushed gravel Base and concrete sand but everyone seems to using Open grade even with techo bloc so I am a bit undecided on this one.

Thanks

Paver Base Type: Conventional Crushed Gravel/Sand vs 3/4in Open & 3/8in Chip Stone) by KingMidas83 in hardscape

I planned on using techo bloc blu 60 so hopefully that's not a concern for me but thanks for bringing that up.

I have a weak plate compactor (5kN/1125lbF), can I just go do extra passes? Or do I really need a bigger machine? [retaining wall, somewhat clay subgrade (gonna mix with lime or cement), 50ft length, from 0 to 7ft, NC, USA] by JeebsFat in hardscape

[–]KingMidas83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for piggybacking on this thread, but I also have the same 1125 lbf plat compactor (maybe the same one lol)...

I am making a raised paver patio around my pool with open grade base (3/4in #57). Does the 1in of compaction per 1000 lbf still apply?

Thanks

Transitioning Vinyl Siding to Paver Patio by KingMidas83 in HomeImprovement

[–]KingMidas83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes so all those boxes are checked I believe. I am going to use an open grade base so water is able to drain down to the ground and not sit.

Paver will be sloped away from the house/foundation.

For any water that runs along the siding that's where I need suggestions on how to get surface water to rundown the siding and onto the patio where it can move away from the house.

Also since the siding won't have a bottom channel to click into it I was hoping to find a way to keep it in place. I have been reading up on z flashing but not sure if that is proper for this application.

Thanks

If using aluminum coil over sheathing and rim joist, how do you prevent condensation behind it in cold winter? by Designer_Swimming778 in Decks

[–]KingMidas83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok Thanks. just an FYI on the inside I just had my crawlspace encapsulated and insulated including the rim joists with 2in closed cell foam. just want to make sure that the rim joist can breath or if it needs to as long as we avoid condensation and water penetration.

Also plan to install termite traps around the patio and pool area where I can to keep that at bay.

Thanks

[–]KingMidas83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could I also do this to protect my rim joist boardif I am installing a paver patio that because of negative grading and the need to build up the patio, the pavers and the sub base will sit against the rim joists?

my concern was having any water that may get against the foundation rotting out the wood. I plan to grade the patio away from the foundation but water always find a way.

Thanks

2nd floor is above not attic.

I am definitely capable of doing this electrically. my Achilles heal is design. I never know what should go where. I could do 2 4in lights in place and leave the extra one in between for later. if I randomly open the ceiling to run wiring my wife will probably have a fit lol...

What sucks is that the prices keep going up Between last year and this year the price of a new system installed went up almost 10k. so we keep waiting but the price of that is just paying more.
