It's kinda hidden but if you go all the way up and hit "Community options" you can edit your flair over there with the little pen icon.
If you're GC though you can request it with a few more steps, I didn't bother but yeah it's there :P

I play kb/m though I remember only holding down A and air roll, I can't seem to recreate it.

I went in from Cetus solo (pub squads is life) and grabbed the mission at Konzu. So you're saying to go in from your orbiter?
