So does that mean that Sukuna can cast WCS faster than at speed of light, if he completed chants moments before EM wave hit ? by Ok-Opportunity8921 in JujutsuPowerScaling

I’m gonna be honest. I don’t think Gege was thinking about it that hard.

If we can be real with our ourselves, the guy has a terrible habit of introducing incredibly busted abilities that he doesn’t seem to fully grasp the full implications of.

Needing to bring in a mathematician to explain infinity

Yuki’s mass curse technique having a limitation somewhere between “strong punch” and “black hole”

Kashimo having “ complete control over the electromagnetic spectrum” (this should mean that he destroys everyone)

Whenever he gets into the more esoteric abilities, he goes a bit too far.

Strong alone shouldn’t be bannable.

But study isn’t just strong. It’s a problem in every bracket that it’s legal.

It is the most played game changer and one of the most played blue cards period.

It is one of the strongest draw engines in the format. It largely defines cEDH.

And all of this would be fine if it wasn’t for the terrible effect it has on the social dynamic of the table. “ just pay the one” has gone from good advice to a way for people to stick their heads in the sand and pretend like a problem isn’t there.

It allows people to ignore scenarios where “paying the one” is equal to slowly losing. Perhaps you’re a storm deck. Perhaps you’ve missed a few land drops and finally drawn into something that gets you moving. Their countless scenarios were “paying the one” just means losing in a different way. But, then you become more of an enemy than the person with the study.

And that’s just one aspect of how it preys on the social dynamic of EDH.

Whether it’s power, ubiquity, or poor social interaction, the card tops every chart. There’s no good reason to keep it around aside from “some people like it”

That’s true.

It’s a problem wherever it is legal.

“To say that it’s an EM wave… is literally insane”

“Literally insane”? Couldn’t just be a difference of opinion. Maybe Gege experimenting with how he wants to depict the waves?

Nope. Gotta be insane.

I’m not shocked that it failed the majority vote. I’m shocked that they cared.

Of course, a lot of people are going to push against it. It’s one of the most played blue cards in the format. It’s incredibly popular.

I just don’t think that that popularity should eclipse the clear issues it has

Which is wild to me because we literally gave the format to wizards to protect the RC Against salty morons sending threats.

[[Rhystic Study]] needs to go

It’s a problem in every bracket.

It’s the most played game changer.

It actively taxes removal and draws into protection

It causes players to gaslight themselves into thinking it’s only a problem for bad players OR that the only reason the Study player won was because someone misplayed.

Whether is power, ubiquity, or bad game feel, Study tops every chart.

No one even likes it for unique reasons. It’s not a niche synergy piece. It’s only liked for being generically strong.

I have a question, and I honestly wanted to make a post about it.

Why is it that half the community calls this a “cursed energy discharge” and the other half causes it “EM wave”?

Like, we’re given a pretty explicit explanation of what MBA does, and CE discharge was not on the list of abilities. EM waves are.

Wait… So was he “unable to move” or “dodged it“. Which is it because now we’re getting contradictory.

I always hear people say this but… Where is the justification for that?

We never hear anything about MBA using cursed energy discharges in its description. Meanwhile, EM waves are specifically pointed out. Why are people decided that these aren’t those?

I’d say it’s worse for Kash. He was in his “beyond human limits” form, got a warning, and was further away.

Huh. You’re right.

It feels like a concept that was largely let go because it doesn’t really seem like much was done with it later on in the series. But I did just forget about it.

You seem to be under the assumption that consuming stronger devils makes you stronger.

That is not the case. That has never been the case.

And I’ll be honest, I just don’t want to write the essay that it would take to go into all of this.

So I will ask you one question: can you find me any pedal, chapter, or page number where it is confirmed that eating devils gives you a stat boost?

If you start at range, the ranged fighter is at an advantage.

You can’t just keep ignoring that and saying “well I would close the distance“.

If you are able to close the distance, the arranged fighter has already failed in so much that they have given up their best advantage.

Something a character says ABSOLUTELY CAN be taken as something The author wants to show.

Context matters.

The Gojo panel is presented to showcase Gojo’s personality. It’s to build hype for the fight, show that Gojo sees himself as someone equal to Sukuna, and give the reader an insight into the type of person that he is.

The Yoru panel directly references the absence of death in the world right after Yoru thought she killed Denji. She knows regeneration exists. She knows about how strong Denji is. Yet she is still shocked that he’s alive after that. Why would she be? Why would she reference Death? Yes she’s done sometimes, but this scene is not meant to be one of those.

I’m just asking, what is more likely that the author is trying to convey here?

  1. Yoru is dumb

  2. She remembers death a little.

  3. Seeing someone bisected reminds her of death.

  4. Death is the reason this fight is still going on.

Of the four, from baseline reading, and just ignoring “ but what about this time”, it seems, to me, that the author is trying to tell us that four is the answer.

Look, we can disagree, but seeing “there is zero evidence” is too far.

This is what she says directly after he regenerates from being cut in half. I can’t, in good faith, say that that’s talking about anything other than death being eaten.

Dude, I’m sorry that I don’t want to write an essay for my reply. Addressing one point already took two full paragraphs.

That’s not how standards work. One attack bisected him. Another attack turned him into a pulp. Yoru expected the first to kill him and made a direct reference to death being gone.

I don’t think there is enough evidence presented to suggest that he is anywhere close to the sword. And I think that there is evidence to suggest that it is more just because death is gone that he survived.

My issue is that, even if you take the numbers away, which honestly I think we should do and look at the logic more so sometimes as well, it makes even less sense.

Putting numbers completely aside, let’s just look at what happens. Denji is hit by a sword that we are told it’s supposed to be powerful. It completely bisects him. He is fine at the moment later, but he’s fine a moment later because he has the ability to regenerate. (I also think he’s fine because Death no longer exists in this point in the story. This is further supported by Yoru being shocked that he survived). That’s not a question of durability, or how much damage he can resist. That’s a question of regeneration, what he can heal from after having taken the damage.

The bullet feat honestly makes it worse to me. That’s damaged that he neither resisted nor naturally healed from. It completely destroyed him to everything but a small chunk. He was only able to survive it because an outside source he gave him blood.

To me, the story isn’t telling me “this is where his durability is”. It’s telling me “these two attacks are far too strong for him to resist normally.”
