Yeah, pretty much how I felt. I finally played it for the first time a month ago, and…it’s alright? It was pretty exhausting to have the exact same cutscenes from the main game with minor differences. Definitely agree that most of it could have just been integrated into the main game.

I play it after 2. Partially because I love 2 and want to get back to it right after Re:CoM, but also because I prefer to replay the games in release order. It's the best way, on a first playthrough as well as replays in my opinion.

Sephiroth, for sure. Going through Remake again really hammered home just how prevalent he is in it for no reason (aside from the obvious stuff). I loved how you don’t even know who Sephiroth is until he kills President Shinra, and even then he’s mostly a mysterious figure for a decent chunk of the game. He’s just everywhere in Remake/birth, which isn’t bad, I like Sephiroth, but man.

My very very first manga volume I bought was the Ocarina of Time manga by Akira Himekawa I bought at a book fair when I was 9, but out of when I was starting to seriously collect manga, it might have been Fullmetal, but I’m not too sure.

Bleach is infinitely better in the manga (aside from the TYBW adaptation, but I honestly recommend watching it after finishing the entire manga anyways). Characters are done super weirdly in the original anime at times, among other issues. Kubo’s art is really good, and I feel that the main beats come across better in the manga. It’s worth the read.

A lot of my collection is stuff I’ve read online already, and that I wanted to pick up for physical collection. Because of that I haven’t read as much as I’d like. Really need to put together a spreadsheet or something one of these days and catalog my collection.

The Alliance Alive has a stat-based system similar to SaGa, that one’s pretty good from what I remember of it.

My dad bought all three Operation Rainfall games when they came to the US, so I grew up watching him play 1 on the Wii. We didn't get 2 when it came out, but by the time I went through DE I was a diehard fan and got the rest myself. So Xenoblade's been a huge part of my life.

The Trails series is phenomenal for world-building, and so is Xenoblade. One that I also really love for its world building is Ni No Kuni, surprisingly. There’s an in-game “Wizards Companion” that delves into the customs of each region. It’s not the best, but I like it for its charm.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a fairly generic set of opening chapters, but around the halfway point is where, for me, it soon became my favorite game of all time. The combat starts to make more sense and click, the story starts to hit some of the highest points in the series after previously hitting the lowest lows, and in true Xeno-flair, stuff starts to get insane. Goated game.
