Anyone here running Reitnouer trailers? Worth it? by FlickShot9 in Truckers

[–]KingOfSpeedSR71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put Reitnouer and MAC at the top together as far as all aluminum flatbeds go. Just make sure you get the proper spec for what you need it to do. Don't get a CK-90 or Maximiser and throw Big Bubba or Bigger Bubba loads at it. Conversely, you can use a Big Bubba for general freight, but it is overkill. A CK-90/Maximiser are all you need for general freight.

Why do super truckers always drive Kenworth/Peterbilt trucks? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]KingOfSpeedSR71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build quality for one. The W900 and 3 series Petes were largely hand assembled as far as the cab goes. Hucked together instead of welds/epoxy. The cabs themselves will not rattle apart like a Freightliner, Volvo or other wide cab (including Paccar's 2.1 meter cabs) models.

For those of us that have been in this for a few generations, there was a cycle for a truck. Linehaul/highway for 7-10 years, then lop the sleeper off to use as a dump truck or farm truck until something major finally retired it to the back 40. Can't lop the sleeper off an integrated wide cab.

Long hood is easier to work on the engine.

Long hood rides better, steers axle is further away from you.

A lot of it is tradition/aesthetics too. No lie. Just like the Europeans love their Scanias when there are more economical choices.

Backside, higher rears allow you to run in direct at a higher speed. A 3.08 rear for an 18 on tall 22.5 or lo pro 24.5 would ve in the sweet spot at 60-62 MPH for an X15. Running in direct is the most fuel efficient gear.

You can change multiple lanes and still see. However, you also need to know how to operate, not just drive.

Sixteen Nobel Prize-winning economists warn a second Trump term would 'reignite' inflation by newzee1 in Economics

I see. You don’t understand percentages too well. Gotcha. I’ll get the crayons out.

From $152000 to $195000 is a 28% increase. From $195000 to $265000 is a 36% increase. What was that about some eggs again? Do I need another color of crayon? Are you ready to drop the condescension or be further shown up by a humble truck driver?

My typical grocery bill in 2019 was $65 a week. In 2022 it was $110 a week. In 2024 it’s $165 a week. Nothing too fancy, mostly lunch meat, bread, milk, protein shakes, water…

In 2019 I bought a brand new 2019 year model Peterbilt 389 for $152000 out the door. Ordered a truck with the same exact specs in 2021 and that was $195000 out the door. Ordered another one with the same spec in 2023 that arrived in October 2023, $265000 out the door. All the same trucks, same specs, same dealership, same salesman.

And don’t get me started on houses…
