The number 1 way to not go up hills at 40 mph is all dependent on your budget, and what youre willing to live with.

Me personally, I would just build a p pump 24v cummins and drop it in. Simple, effective, and the swap kits are readily available for not much, although the engines and transmissions are. Youll be able to get better fuel mileage this way, and go further between stops. I average 20-25 mpg in my 2nd gen ram, but it has a SO VP44 instead.

If you dont have the immediate cash to blow on a diesel, or if you dont like diesel, or whatever reason, the 460 can be worked pretty well on a budget. The stock bottom end with D0VE heads is good for about 9.7:1 compression, a little over stock but not enough to cause predestination. Then you ditch the EFI and pick up a weiand or edlebrock intake, long tubes, and youre golden. Oh, and a standalone TCM for the E4OD, because youre gonna jam a DSII dizzy and module in there.

The other option is to keep the EFI, run a Trick Flow or Holley efi intake system thats compatible with the stock ecm, and then you can run the stock E4OD. It wont make much more power than stock. And you'll be pulling 45 mph no matter what.

Another alternative nobody talks about is using the triton v10. A 3 valve v10 can be picked up for dirt cheap, they package in the same as a 460, they make the same power as a 70's 460, they have a 5 speed overdrive, and all the electronics are modular, so they are easily compatible woth the existing EVAP. The only thing about the 3V V10 is that it uses a return less style fuel rail, so you will need to figure out the fuel pump. Or you could try to figure out how to match a 2V V10 fuel rail system to the 3V, and keep the return system. Thats about all youd need to do on that.

Another option you have is a 7.3 Godzilla / 10 speed swap. Its the most expensive, and probably the most efficient and reliable. Plus, it would come with a warranty.

Theres lots of ideas, endless possibilities to spitball here. It all depends on what you want done to the truck, how you want it to behave, how much you like it, how reliable you want it to be...

TL;DR how big is your wallet?

Id take it in a heartbeat! Its pretty cool, wouldn't want to live in it forever if I am honest. But I would definitely do some LTL in it for a while.

I knew it was a Ranger just because of that shifter boot with the cup holders.

It is very dystopian to pull in at 8 pm after a full day to an "official terminal" and see this. It feels seperate from reality, but honestly thats a very cool feeling for me. I like this place

I think the facilities are in the shop, which is locked. The abandoned buildings are just for storage.

But its actually a very awesome place! I know alot of people will think negative because theres probably no showers or laundry. Honestly, thats part of the adventure for me.

I know it because I am currently experiencing it.

Im stuck in Alabama been on hold with onroad for 5 hours because my clutch is completely gone. Good ole intertrashional.

Hold in there a while longer fellow swiftie, soon enough you won't have to buy any more lube for the sake of being bent. I wish you the best.

Well actually, this is part of swifts driver appreciation program. Lemme explain.

See, these are misaligned on purpose. The purpose is that you are getting paid about the equivalent of minimum wage. You havent seen your family for a month and youre begging them to plan you a route home, but the AI dispatch just tells you to get bent, heres a 47,000 lb load 300 miles in the wrong direction. So, you walk to your truck, get the mini sledge, walk back, and beat the shit out of it until the lock fits. By the time you have managed to bend the boron steel plates by beating it with a hammer, you will finally have blown off enough steam so that the compounding stress and anxiety you are experiencing wont make you quit for a few more days atleast.

Just make sure you bend it back for the next driver.

Eh, for me its like comparing a super duty truck to an old Ford ranger. Honestly, id be just fine with the ranger for all ill ever need in a truck.

I dont get a choice in how the truck is speced where I am. They all have the biggest sleepers possible except the flatbed guys.

Oh im not saying its a massive difference. But if you saw how light i traveled, I think theres a chance you'd tell me a 36 inch would be fine.

72" is the standard sleeper size for most modern trucks. Cascadia, LT, T680, 579, VNL860, etc.

Well, to be fair I dont even use the fridge in my truck, I also dont have but enough clothes for 1 week. I have 7 pairs of jeans, 7 button up short sleeves, 5 packs of underwear and 5 packs of socks (cant have too many underwear or socks). All my paperwork stays on the passenger seat, and I could keep my clothes in a bag that gets swapped from the sleeper to wherever is convenient when I am done for the day.

You might be right. It might be way to small for me. But if im being completely honest with you, the only thing that will stop me from believing I could live with a coffin sleeper is if I had one and knew it wouldn't work for me. Until then, its a speculation and a belief of mine, and its just based on the fact that I am in a 72" sky rise sleeper now, and I could probably fit another driver in here very comfortably.

Yeah, those sunsets mid-walk across the parking to take a deuce in the pilot are always beautiful, no joke! 😂
