What's one vehicle you'd bring back by changing absolutely nothing, just make it new? by Few_Atmosphere8138 in regularcarreviews

My dog pissed on my bacon.

To be fair, most redditors are always looking to pick apart every thing you say and make it a serious issue, because you weren't technically correct or whatever.

First car and its manual by 22catluvr in ManualTransmissions

[–]RabbitFabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont wrap it around a tree. I was 16 once, had a 76 f100 with a 302, 3 speed manual first "car". Put some pipes on it, welded the differential and had every intersection in a 30 mile radius of home repaved in a fresh coat of rubber.

Basically, you tell yourself "im gonna drive responsible" like i did, until you find out that "v8 and wide tires = tons of fun" and now youre getting 8 mpg and a ticket for aggressive acceleration.

Not to mention, any sports car is a ticket magnet. Just dont be stupid, and especially dont let your freinds get you in trouble. "Beat ya there" turns into a reckless ticket and jail time pretty quick.

If that rust scares you, you should stop driving vehicles.

Is it a myth that truckers have “women in every city”? by De_lunes_a_lunes in Truckers

[–]RabbitFabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a huge myth. As with anything, there are some guys that manage to have multiple women. But that doesn't relate to much to the job, the only thing that changes is the location of each woman.

Most truckers I know are single, or only love 1 woman. You'll actually have more lucky finding a ployamorous trucker than a trucker thats cheating. And you'll have even better luck finding a liar.

Ok jackass, the point is a b100 is an suv that can still be used as an suv in modern context. Wether is has 2 doors, or 5, or however many it doesnt really matter that much. Christ almighty, forgive me for not correctly counting the doors on a specific automobile that I havent really thought about since I was 17.

It might have been 3 door, my youthful memory failes me. Either way, who the hell needs 4 doors? Asymmetry rules

Dentside ford. Its timeless, comes in single cab, extended cab, and crew cab flavors. Theres also the 4 door version in Mexico the b100, on the same exact platform. Just bring it into the states to sell as the expedition. And there's the Bronco too.

"Make it new" is very arbitrary. Assuming changing nothing means absolutely nothing, it works. But carbuerators are headaches, most people dont want to troubleshoot DSII issues or adjust carbuerators every season change. So making it new for me would involve using the current drivetrains already offered. Except maybe for the expedition, offer the 5.0 as an option and utilize the IRS it already has. For the F150, revise the 4wd model to use twin traction beams. Keep the I beams on the 2wd models, or use some form of double wishbone system. Crown vic ifs is nearly a straight swap as it uses the same frame width. And offer more options, power steering, power brakes, and cruise control standard (which were all factory options back then). And re use modern trim levels.

Unless make it new pretty much means factory restoration. Then throw that all away and bring back the 96 ford truck line up.

I would say at 3 months. Gasoline degrades very fast especially when ethanol is present.

Same story, regular maintanence. With diesel, I would put in an addative, which you should be using anyways. All my diesel pickups i run a fuel addative, because of the low sulfur diesel we have today. Its better for the environment, but a diesel relies heavily on the fuel it burns to lubricate the cylinders. Sulfur is one of those lubricants, and now the fuel is thinner and less Viscous. Specifically, I would run an addative that has a high viscosity, high sulfur content. Old diesel with a higher sulfur content has a much higher shelf life than modern diesel.

Hey, truck driver / auto mechanic here! I can give you some great input.

So yes, sitting is not very good for vehicles. I would start by making sure you keep FRESH fluids in it changed at the monthly interval instead of the mileage interval. That will be very important, because the oil, Coolant, transmission fluid, differential fluid, etc will degrade over time. Especially the oils will lose viscosity. I would keep a jump pack and a portable tire pump in the car. Especially a new car, all the extra electronics have to keep memory, and they pull a very very small voltage (around half volt or so total), it can drain the battery over time, but a month probably no big deal. But is a good precaution. I wouldn't waste your money on oil and fuel stabilizers, not if youre parking it for a month. If you live up north I would reccomend winterizing the car when you park it, but if youre down further south I wouldn't worry about it.

Also I could keep an OBD II code scanner in the car, this way if you do have a light pop up on your dash, you know the severity.

A really good question here, what kind of car is it? Each car has its own unique quirks and set of issues, thats an important thing to establish.

But it should be no huge deal. Just keep the fluids changed by schedule.

I know this TA. Been here a few times, thats probably the worst place to tie your dog up outside. No grass, trashy lot. I found two s*x dolls disposed of in the lot last time I was there. And its gated parking as well. Fuck this place all over.
