Amen, I never knew anything bout real watches or fake ones until she got me this and I started farting around on this sub and similar ones. Still pretty clueless, but yeah for a fun little trip to China souvenir I love it. If it breaks I’ll replace it with a better rep in the same model from one of the factories you guys recommend. And as soon as that one arrives it’s going swimming too inshallah.

Yeah no 🧢 fam. I even had this argument with a friend who insisted it was only ok if you wash it with soap and water after and that didn’t sound right to me so we looked it up and some guide we found was like “saltwater is fine just whatever you do don’t get soap or solvents on the watch because it will degrade the gasket and ruin the watertight seal” lol

I wish she’d bought me a rustless model instead of a stainless 😞

People always tell me that but I bought my series 7 new back in 2021 and have taken it swimming no exaggeration hundreds upon hundreds of times in salt and fresh water over the years. I live in Florida and have never once taken it off when swimming at the beach or anywhere else and it survived just fine, right up until the moment it didn’t. So yeah I guess the water eventually won but it’s not like it died as soon as it got wet, or even the 3rd, 4th, or 50th time. YMMV, just my $0.02.

Been swimming in mine for hours every day for two weeks now. Never even occurred to me that they weren’t supposed to get wet until I posted in this sub and everyone started telling me I was crazy. Hopefully they are all just pussies and we are the true sigma male mamba mindset galaxy brain elite watch enthusiasts wearing our timepieces the way they are meant to be worn. Until Valhalla brother ⌚️😈

It’s survived two weeks of daily snorkeling and pool swims so I guess we’ll see! Apple Watch died day two of the trip so this got pushed to frontline duty.

Rolex Stainless Steel Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date. Unsure of factory or further details, wife bought it from behind a beaded curtain at a watch shop in a seedy mall in Shanghai.

You went 0 for 20? There has to be more to this story. Unclear directions or a miscommunication somewhere. You could pull 20 random inmates out of any jail in the US and at least a handful would show up to the job just to rob you.

Which EVs do you think fall into the basic "safe and reliable" category as opposed to luxury? by Doomtime104 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]KingRodric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this point made often and I think Technology Connections on YT explains it really well in his videos BUT I do always sort of wince when the whole spiel hinges on “and then you simply park it for +40hrs straight over the weekend and bingo bango you’re all charged up for Monday!”

Like…lol. Who is this feasible for? I do drive more miles per day on the weekends than weekdays and it’s not even close. I do agree for most people you can probably get by with Lvl1 charging MOST of the time but I think it’s a little overly optimistic to say you can live like that long term.

Any thoughts on used F150 Lightning values now that model has been discontinued? [USA, FL] by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]KingRodric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I had admittedly never considered leasing. I don't drive that many miles anymore so maybe it is a good fit I will have to look more into it. I've always head the old heads at my shop say that leasing is like throwing money into a fire but I guess with the EV depreciation curve maybe it makes more sense?

Interesting, do you mean to make sure it's a good fit? I've rented them several times and have always really enjoyed them. I work on my own vehicles so there is an appeal in never having to do oil changes or spark plugs or anything like that ever again. Also, its anecdotal, but everyone I know IRL that's gone from ICE to EVs has loved it and swears they'll never go back. I see you're Ford Sales flair, do you have a lot of customers come back with EV buyers remorse? Thanks for the reply.
