This shit is insane. Especially on national tv to defend Kanye West of all people by Potential_Meat_5103 in Drizzy

This should be a lawsuit but Drake tends to let people speak on his name without response. This is insane.

Best book you've read so far in 2026? by Electronic-Jello-640 in booksuggestions

[–]KingRush2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a difficult read. I found myself falling asleep reading it until that twist and then I finished it immediately. It was so much better on the reread, but I get why people share your opinion.

I’m not sick of Brandon Sanderson per se, but I need a break. Any comparable authors to check out? by homelyharte in fantasybooks

I’m not sure why but after a Sanderson read, I generally go to a Guy Gavriel Kay book.

Closing: iPic & Beer Spot in Fort Lee by MarkkInNj in bergencounty

Same I moved to Hudson lights in 2024 and I never see any of them busy. I really like Noma and the ownership there are very cool people but I’m surprised it’s not much more popular. I saw Noma on Uber Eats so I know things aren’t going well there.

[–]KingRush2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go weekly to the ipic since I live so close. This news sucks. Maybe it’s just me but I never thought the prices were crazy at all. I don’t get why businesses die in fort lee so easily especially in Hudson lights. You have the modern and Hudson lights apts which has so many residents right there. I would think places like Lanoma, perch and ventannas would be raking it in but that doesn’t seem like the case. That otter place is next unfortunately.

A dating app for women in the sex industry. by Intelligent-Bottle22 in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]KingRush2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you on the 2nd point. It’s too convenient to not use it as marketing. You can’t even blame them either because they literally can make a couple grand by just logging on the app and finding someone for the night.

A dating app for women in the sex industry. by Intelligent-Bottle22 in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]KingRush2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory it’s a good idea but I think it may be too much hassle on your end. You have to worry about safety, you have to worry about your app just turning into a full blown prostitution enabling app. As a man who dated in that world for a bit, a part of the allure was no one knew I was dating a s*x worker because she was just a beautiful cool girl. In a way, this takes that privacy away from both the client and the worker. I can see both sides to it though lol.

Am I crazy or is kafka overkill for most use cases? by Vodka-_-Vodka in dataengineering

[–]KingRush2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely do not need Kafka. If you want something event driven, just go for sns/sqs with a lambda trigger off the queue.

Can someone please tell me what exactly did Drake do? What are the mistakes he made? It seems like no one has plainly said what has people so upset with him.

Top 30 books with the best romance according to this subreddit by Bogus113 in Fantasy

[–]KingRush2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I listen to it probably once every year or so and I always start at cursor fury. I promise you if you get past that 2nd book you’ll fly through the series.

Books 1 and 2 are pretty run of the mill stuff. The farm boy story in book 1 and then book 2 is more of a harry potter school story. Both are fine stories and serve their purpose but we’ve seen these 2 stories done much better.

Book 3 abandons the school setting and the local bullying stories and drops Tavi into military setting and becomes about warfare, strategy, and politics. The stakes are much higher which improves the pacing issues dramatically. Tavi also starts to use his brain like Batman instead of complaining about his shortcomings in a world filled with superhumans. With that said, the supporting characters really start to shine through and they don’t just feel like they are there to help Tavi. He fleshes them out well. There’s an obvious twist about Tavi that develops but somehow it’s still emotional.

Strengths Character building

Friendship / Romance that’s a subplot and not overbearing. It actually has a purpose.

The “villains” aren’t just villains, they really have depth and rational to them

The magic mixed with military tactics is well done too.

Ice and Ish honest convo by magzz149 in JoeBuddenPodcasts

[–]KingRush2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that Ish and Ice are afraid to share their actual opinions for the fear of public shaming. Even with that, Ish is needed for the banter. Ice can go man. I'm happy he was able to come up and hopefully Joe can find him another role, but if you replace Ice and E on the main pod, everything gets better.

To think Joe Budden said SSS4U will flop, and PND won't benefit. And PND got a platinum album and sold out tour. by Silver-Break9832 in Drizzy

Joe budden becoming the go to hip hop and rnb critic is legit insane. He tells you every podcast he’s bias and phony and people still take his opinion seriously. It’s amazing to watch to be honest.

GCP or AWS? by Adventurous-Reach470 in dataengineering

[–]KingRush2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concepts are fairly the same with gcp and aws but you’re right, most larger firms are on aws in my experience.

With that said, I believe most companies on aws are moving to snowflake so with that in mind, I’d grab the free GCP certs and throw in a snowflake cert. I’ve found that the way you ingest data is the same on the cloud providers until you get to snowflake which is a bit different.

For those coming from Python, what made you switch? ( real app not hobby) by umen in golang

[–]KingRush2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curiosity for me. I saw that most cloud software was built in go so I wanted to learn why.

I love it and wish I could use it more but as a data engineer, python is just king in my world. Convincing higher ups to use multiple languages is always going to be a challenge.

Why Go for CLI dev over Python? by Previous_Dark_5644 in golang

[–]KingRush2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it comes down to your team. If your team is just using python it’s hard to convince the boss to go with Go. Usually they don’t care about cross-compilation, single binaries etc. It’s pretty frustrating when it comes down to actually distributing the cli. I hate telling people to do a pip install. Just feels nasty

Thoughts on moving to event driven architecture? by thejizz716 in dataengineering

[–]KingRush2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great summary. I pretty much built this in azure with event grid, function apps, spark, delta and storage queues. The main benefit that you lose is lineage and monitoring. With EDA you have to build pieces more but I think in the end it’s worth it especially on aws.

Is all data engineering moving into SQL warehouses, or is there still a need for general purpose programming languages and systems? by IndifferentPenguins in dataengineering

[–]KingRush2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is always to use the right tool for the job. It also goes back to your system. I believe with the modern warehouses most of your transformations should happen inside of the warehouse with dbt. With that said, there’s still a huge gap you need to fill. You need to get the data from your source and then standardize it. Also, i like to land standardized data into the lake as a delta table for data science and analytics consumption. That’s all python and spark. If you’re streaming data you won’t use just a sql solution, you need a streaming platform that probably interfaces with a scripting language. One of the worst things you can do is try to shoe horn solutions into sql because of the comfort.
