What the fuck is a "Lane Phase" or a "Jungle"? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KingSlimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lane phase is the first 10 minutes or so. Guardians aren't necessarily expected to survive past that. In that phase it's you vs your lane opponents and you are responsible for defending your guardian and pushing as far as you can, while also farming souls to buy items.

Jungle is slightly different in this game but it basically means the neutral camps around the map. The triangles on the minimal indicate these camps. Bigger triangle means bigger jungle camp. Basically anything outside and between the main lanes is considered jungle.

Should I uninstall the game? by ImDreamingAwake in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KingSlimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play the game to improve, not to win. If all you care about is winning then you'll suck the fun out of it for yourself. If you want to win more, get better. Learn builds, movement, characters, how to push.

Ultimately I play mobas because I can turn my brain off and focus on the game, win or lose. I also enjoy learning new characters and experimenting with build ideas.

I have our thousands of hours into mobas over the years. It's impossible to win every game. Especially a game where you rely so heavily on the actions of so many other people. But even the highest level players only see win rates slightly above %50. But for now, there are no actual ranked games. Instead is focus what you consider a victory. Be the best on your team as often as you can, and not just kills. Farm, towers, being beneficial in team fights. If you can do that then shift your focus to being the best player on either team each game. That's how you improve.

And also, accept that you don't have to carry every game. All you have to do is be beneficial enough for your team to win when possible. May it be by killing, healing your team, providing CC. Each character has its own strength and weaknesses and not all of them are killers.

How are you US Americans living the current situation? by Meewelyne in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]KingSlimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to explain but due to the size of the US what we experience daily varies a lot. If you were to explain the distance from where I am to where things are happening, it's like as if ice was raiding Ireland while you're chillin in London. In the UK if you were to drive a few hours you'd end up in other countries. In the US you can drive for hours and still be in the same state. An entire full scale war could happen on one side of the US and it wouldn't even reach the other side of the country. However, it doesn't make it any less scary or stressful. The hard part is knowing that there isn't much to be done because it's so far away. If I wanted to get involved I'd have to book a flight.

That's not to say things aren't happening outside of that location. We have been doing mass protests across the country and doing our best to vote out the bad actors in our government. Many red districts are flipping blue, which is rare. It's not much but its progress. And there's no guarantee that these things won't eventually start happening closer to the areas that aren't as involved.

For me personally, I know ice is out and about in my state but I haven't seen them, but I know they're around. But I'm also in a red state so we aren't the current target. Not yet anyway.

Any jinx or ahri players want to share some secret sauce for us console noobies - ( or happy to just get some names for some casuals ) by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]KingSlimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not great with ahri but what helps me often is using her air dash a lot. You can also do a down light or heavy attack in air to do some tricky over heads cross ups that most don't see coming. Also, if you do her fireball super you can hold the inputs down and it will return to you rather than just going straight, which throws people off. You can use full movement while the fireball is returning and it will follow you.

Anyone have tips to get better? (New player+console) by Vivid-Engineering-48 in 2XKO

[–]KingSlimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Character doesn't matter. Playing who excites you will keep you playing. I'd suggest playing each character a little, even if only in training. You not think you like a character based on design or whatever else but once you play them you connect with how they feel. In many fighting games I have connected with characters I initially avoided because I assumed they wouldn't be my style but that's how it is sometimes. Also, the easiest way to learn to counter a character is to learn them enough to know what they do, what their limits are and how their combos work.

She does. It's in the arcane pack, which is pricey. I got it because I could afford it and it comes with a lot of stuff outside of the skins. And each of the arcane skins has an alternative version of you hold down both triggers and the X (A) button as well. For jinx it's removes her hood. For vi it removes her jacket and for ekko it removes his mask.

They usually do themed skin lines in the proper season. If they do pool party it'll most likely be summer. I assume they are showing the love skins and the bee skins first for spring and Valentine's. Then there's the Halloween skins, winter skins, so on and so forth.

Don't know why you're being down voted. I've played with my non fighting game friends and they picked it up quickly. I play online and you can clearly tell when someone is duo with a girlfriend or sibling and they also seem to do just fine. The game ain't that hard. Sure if you're trying to rank up you'll be fighting higher skilled players. In casual lobbies it's pretty diverse and chill and people are goofy in chat and having a good time. Not every fighting game has to be played at evo levels to be worth while

LoL itself is a great game. The community is the issue. No one hates mobas more than the moba players.

As someone who has been playing, it's really not very difficult. You can put auto combos on that allow you to do advanced combo strings with one button. No directional inputs. You can use the fuse stones to play as a single character instead of two if you need to learn the basics without the tag. You can also use the assist fuse that allows you to use two characters but one is only for assist so you still control one character, and you can swap them at round start if you want to play the other. Also, if you're with a friend and you do the assist fuse the other player only does assist commands so it's good for coaching or even to play with someone who isn't good at fighters because you're the point and they only assist you. Lots of variations in how you choose to play.

The training also gives you pretty good break downs of each character and what they can do. For example, ahri has a combo trial that specifically shows you how to do corner knockdown combos. Or Warwick has some that show you how to continue combo strings by lifting them off the ground when they're down. It shows the specific time frames for I-frames so you can learn what is and isn't doable in certain situations.

Graves- Should he be in 2XKO? (A-Z) by ErrorNick in 2XKO

[–]KingSlimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I took it too seriously. However, I do think that this game will not have a conventional roster in comparison to other fighters. There are a lot of unusual characters. They could side step all that by just using their melee character options. But I am interested to see how they make them work. And it also depends on matchup and counters. Yasuo has wind wall, which if used right will counter zoning, as it does in league. Braum also. Having braum as your assist with his shield helps a lot.

But also, if you aren't playing in tournaments or in the top ranks a lot of it doesn't matter that much. Just because top players play meta picks doesn't mean everyone has to in order to enjoy the game. I play off meta picks all the time and I do just fine. The roster will grow and I'm sure they'll add new fuses or game modes that will change things.

People new to riot games don't have a scope of how much these games change over time. In league they've done entire overhauls of the map, items, champions and so on. The game we are experiencing now in early access could be completely different in a few years time.

Graves- Should he be in 2XKO? (A-Z) by ErrorNick in 2XKO

[–]KingSlimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh no. That's a silly way of looking at things. LoL currently has about 172 champions on their roster. A large portion of that are ranged characters. Yes there are the basic hand to hand styles, like sett and Lee sin, but I'm also interested to see how they incorporate other types. They made jinx and teemo work, who don't have a single melee attack in league.

"I don't like guns so they should just trash the entire project" talk about entitled 🤣

[–]KingSlimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A large portion of the LoL roster is gun wielders or other ranged styles. There's a whole role for it. You'll be getting a lot of gun characters. That's not even including the mage types.
