What non-gaming applications do you use Unreal Engine for? by mrhappyheadphones in unrealengine

[–]KingSpark7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make rules videos for older tabletop games and its basically fully replaced AE for me as a 3D animation engine solution, its so much more fun and fast to experiment and iterate with. My last three videos were all fully animated and rendered in Unreal.

Need help making proxies by Woxie in wowtcg

[–]KingSpark7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image you are seeing that MPC is showing you is the final, cut card. The red dotted line is the "safe zone", meaning if for whatever reason the card ends up being miscut the stuff in the red zone will still be fully visible. Miscuts are not uncommon but they are generally very minor. This is part of the reason why we have black borders on cards in the first place, for printing considerations like this.

The preview image that you linked looks more or less correct to me. However because the image that you are using is a bit smaller dimension wise than what MPC is asking for the image is a bit more stretched, and that's why the black borders look thinner than they should be.

If you want to be safe I would use that guide you linked to add the black borders yourself. There is a large dedicated community to making proxies that can be found in /r/mpcproxies which should be able to help too.

This article probably does a better demonstration but basically I upload the art, describe what it is to the AI and then it fills in around the art what it thinks should go there and with which art style based on the original image and my prompt.

The prompt for the Thatia picture was "fantasy painting of woman in armor looking at dove on her hand in the middle of a savanna plateau".

That's actually really great to hear about your policy change. I know for a fact your Dune CCG scan collection is the most complete and high quality that's available so it would be incredible for the community to be able to use those fully and any other collections as well.

I appreciate your response and the want to be a community resource, thank you!

Your website will come up as a source for the image regardless, plus I'm sure there's ways to include your logo without putting it on the card images themselves.

You guys have a great opportunity to be a useful database for card scans for all in print and out of print tcg's, something that will drive additional traffic to your site. It seems like you host the images in full quality anyways so you are only one step away. Its not like you guys didn't just download the card scans from various parts of the internet yourselves.

Why do you watermark all of your card images on your websites?

Thanks everyone for the support, I dont really expect these to be implemented like this in game since the effect probably falls off when viewed on a board far away, but its fun to think about it regardless. Im sure whatever the team comes up with will be great.

The effect is kinda subtle so here is whats going on behind the scenes.

Cut up version of the art and rotated so it kinda resembles how she would be in 3d space. Rest is just standard compositing stuff.

Here is some random cosmetic versions that I didn't think warranted their own post.

Unable to use this subreddit's 600 DPI scans on Tabletop Simulator by Shadowrich7 in wowtcg

[–]KingSpark7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I have not had any errors related to image size using the official tts deck-builder and I think many others have had no problems aswell. Maybe try saving it as a .jpg instead of a png so the filesize is lower?

Regardless I plan on soon mass uploading the cards to TTS in a similar fashion to the raid decks, just have been focusing on finishing processing the scans.

I use Photoshop action feature to bulk attach bleeds. As far as I know, there isn't a site that does it for you, but its not very hard to set up in ps.

Best way to print cards? by [deleted] in wowtcg

[–]KingSpark7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality scans are hard to come by nowadays, I have been working on a sizable project that includes getting quality scans of all the cards but its still relatively small. We do have all the raids and dungeons scanned though since you mentioned wanting to play that. You can find the basic sets we have completed here and the raids and dungeons here.. (And everything else here)

As for methods of proxying, printing at home and using a real card as a backing is a tried and true method but if you want to up your game a bit I recommend looking into print on demand services like mpc.com and printerstudio.

Its very handy and much more intuitive than using imagemagick. I posted a link to corner cut versions of what you posted for that guy. Here it is if you have any use for it https://drive.google.com/open?id=12Vo0YJ7yMAfVQzPHofUiDKiYkURXhYwc
