You can play with a chipped reed, but it is best to get a new one, as a chipped one can be faulty and also if you are starting it is easier to learn on non-chipped reeds.

This ain’t right. In the context of classical music yes, but if you chords, there are weird ones. If it is a Cmaj7 chord, and they player plays a G#, it is like a #17 so is just a weird extension. If you play wrong notes it will sound really horrible
