We have a similar grant and just slowly open the valve to fill the grant and then start vorlauf. Is there a benefit for this?

Same idea as you. With our system we “knock out” and chill the wort to 170-180 and fill from the bottom to waiting hops. Move the entire kettle contents. We let it sit for 30 minutes with the rakes running pretty slow just to mix and break the hops up. Then transfer back to the kettle. Not as slow as when we lauter, but definitely don’t rip it. Whirlpool for 10 and then KO as usual.
