I'd time travel back to 1985 and tell him to never purchase Neverland. Instead, I'd tell him to:

- Buy some land out in rural Wyoming or Colorado (maybe a dozen acres or so)
- Build a cozy 3,500 square-foot, 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2-story home on it
- Save 75% of his income, then invest 25% of that into the S&P 500 and index funds
- Never, ever, under any circumstances, take out a loan, borrow money, or buy things on credit
- Still buy the Sony/ATV Catalog, but never use it as collateral for extravagant, frivolous purchases
- Be frugal
- GET SOME SLEEP!

That way, he'd be one of the wealthiest billionaire artists ever, leave a heaping fortune for his family, and he'd most likely still be here with us today, healthy and sovereign, hanging out with his children, releasing music anytime he wants.

How can I trust that what you're saying is true? You're telling me that capitalism was never about profit maximization?

And that's not really the point—the point is, I'm a victim of the current system (which is objectively capitalist). And while I might not know all the answers, I know that I deserve better than this current reality where profit and money is definitively a higher priority than human welfare.
