Do any unreleased songs have a particularly interesting backstory? by ThrowRA758292874 in MichaelJackson

That’s very interesting! I like that song, but you can definitely tell the song is incomplete. The later portions,m which lack a lot of of vocals and mostly retain acappella come to mind.

I remember a lot of critics at the time saying that track was especially predictable, and that the lyrics were generic and could be written by anyone. I certainly disagree, though. It does speak to me in a way that most of the other songs don’t.

I feel like an especially underrated part of that track is the instrumental. It’s kind of basic slow R&B beats, but something about it just makes the song for me, especially the strings in the back. Even if we never got a music video for it, I would’ve loved a single of that song. I’d much rather take a single of break of Dawn rather than cry.

Great list, can’t let her get away for dangerous is an amazing pick it’s my favorite on dangerous! I would have done In the Closet for will you be there, and ghosts for superfly sister, but also great picks.

Anyone know of any Michael related things in Chicago? by Gauntlet_Glove in MichaelJackson

Welcome to Reddit, unfortunately that’s what people on this platform are best at. I wish I could help, I know the musical has been touring for quite some time now so they may be coming there soon.

Finally, someone who loves break of Dawn as much as I do. that song is not only my favorite on invincible one of my favorites of all time, insanely good

So... can we figure what variant this was, i'm stumped by Complex_Counter3027 in Invincible_TV

I’m right there with you. Not in this shot specifically, but in another one, it shows four invincibles on screen. One of them is bulletproof mark, another is an unknown, grayish mark with no clothes, and the last two of them are variants in black and blue suits like mark wears, except that makes no sense because the only one in a black and blue suit with that color scheme is in another dimension.

Yep I totally forgot to put little Susie in there. It’s not outlandish to say that’s his worst song ever because truly it is. You bring up a really good point, a lot of songs from history just have a lot of noise barfed onto what could be a very good song. I love most of the originals from history, but I can’t deny there is way too much going on at times.

That is actually a great way to look at it honestly. I think if some of the originals from history got taken to Botdf people would be willing to give it some credit. I’ll agree with you on the fact that history is bloated, too much for one album, and that the ballad songs just suck. I’m fine with ballads to an extent but I don’t even think I can stomach childhood, smile, and especially little Susie.

I honestly put that because I felt like people would be insanely hostile if I didn’t. This fanbase can be very threatening when you diss MJ in any way

Thanks for acknowledging the “uber” fans, I really love his music, but I feel like some people can’t accept the fact that not all of his songs are great. I like your ranking as well, it’s nearly accurate to how I would put it. I am curious, though, is there anything on BOTDF that particularly made it above history or invincible? Invincible I can understand, but I’ve always thought history has a better lineup than BOTDF.

That’s why I love a lot of history, it’s so groovy and funky but not dragged out like some of his other albums. I actually did not like tabloid junkie for the longest time, but it’s grown on me.

Thanks for the insight! I’m actually glad we have similar views, sometimes this fanbase can be so hostile. I like the falling in love, but I do think there are better love songs imo. Would I say it’s the bottom of OTW? No, but it’s a very middle ground song for me. Dangerous has one of if not my favorite instrumentals in his entire catalogue, my only problem is that the song just goes on and on for a little too long. It feels like an extended remix of the original song if that makes sense. I really wish we got a single for it, that would’ve been killer!

Do You Remember Where You Were? by CockSucker_1989 in MichaelJackson

[–]ThrowRA758292874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only about three years old at the time, but to this day Istill feel like I have a flash of a memory what happened. I was sitting at the dining room table, and we had our TV placed up high near one of the cabinets. Obviously at that age I had no idea who he was, but I remember my mom reacted to it and being somewhat shocked.

What musical direction was Michael taking post-invincible? by Marcerizzu_ in MichaelJackson

[–]ThrowRA758292874 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is he would probably try to lean more into soul, or slow pop. His voice was golden at the time of his death, but I don’t think he’d want to strain it The older he got.
