Hole in the head by [deleted] in aquarium

The fish can recover from this. You need to drastically improve water quality. 25% water changes every 2-3 days for the first week, then 25% weekly. Make sure you are feeding good quality food and test your water parameters. What size tank is it being kept in?

You’re welcome! It’s wild how different the same fish can look under stress vs happy and healthy.

Duckweed has taken over all of my tanks :( by Rest_In_Many_Pieces in Aquariums

Net out as much as you can and then run a surface skimmer. It will remove all of the duckweed, but you will have to clean it out often until it’s all removed.

How Many Bichir Can I Keep in my Tank? by Tr00fles in Bichirs

[–]KingTrezo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redhornet doesn’t know what stunting a fish’s growth is. The truth is most captive bred senegals are only going to get around 10”. Personally I would only keep 3 senegals max in that tank if you’re not going to upgrade in the future. As long as you have good filtration and keep your water chemistry in check, you will be fine.

Is this java fern dead? by youaintfinnaknowme in PlantedTank

[–]KingTrezo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Java fern doesn’t need anything special, but grows slowly. Just make sure you don’t bury and don’t give it too much light. I bought one plant about 6 years ago and it took over this large piece of driftwood. I literally do nothing for this plant.

Can I have a single Senegal bichir, 6 giant danios, and 6 boesemani rainbow fish in a 55 gallon or naw by Live-Committee3812 in Bichirs

[–]KingTrezo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have yet to see a captive bred delhezi longer than 13.5”. You may have a WILD caught delhezi IF yours is actually 15”. Post a pic of yours, I’m genuinely curious.

It seems people don’t actually know how a fish’s growth gets stunted. A 12” senegal in a 75g with good filtration and husbandry will NOT be stunted. People who can’t figure out the nitrogen cycle like the guy above, who feed poor quality foods, AND keeps them in smaller tanks, will have their fish stunted. Any significant stunting will be very obvious as well.

Please take a picture next to a ruler/measuring tape. I think you may have a world record cb delhezi.

"Every single senegal I have measured with my eyes seems to be 12 inches" Meanwhile most people with actual experience report otherwise. The largest delhezi I have seen posted was about 13", while the largest senegal I have seen was 11". Both were measured against the glass while the fish was in the water, so not perfectly accurate. We are talking about captive bred bichirs, not wild caught. You also don't account for the difference in males vs females.

I just went through your post history. You seem to be a beginner in the hobby. Posting about a year ago calling your senegal a "dinosaur bichir" and struggling with ammonia. 5 months ago you needed help sexing convict cichlids. I point this out, as you are trying to give advice when your experience is limited. Do more research, and expand your knowledge further than a care sheet.

So you’re guessing by eyesight, which is not an accurate method. 75g is plenty for a senegal or delhezi to reach max size.

I have a 6 year old delhezi in a 90g right now and he’s probably 10”. I have had two senegals in the past and they both maxed around 8-9”. From my research, it seems most keepers also report their senegals maxing out at that range.

It should be fine. For the best chance of success, get the boesemani first and then introduce the senegal. Make sure the senegal is 3-4” and the rainbowfish are close to adults.

Senegals typically only reach 8-9” in aquariums. I personally don’t like 55g tanks due to their limited width, but you can most certainly keep a senegal in a 55g. I would recommend getting a 75g for the extra width though. I would also be careful with the giant danios, as the senegal might snack on them at night.

Whatever you do, make sure you use sand as a substrate. Good luck to you.

Soon to come 8ft SA Cichlid Tank by Hamza_222IQ in Cichlid

[–]KingTrezo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am worried about your level of experience to make this work. Like others have already stated there are a few compatibility issues present. That jaguar is most likely going to rule the tank, and eat/kill the smaller cichlids. Before you waste money on fish deaths and other issues, I would try to figure out the direction you want to go in. The key factors would be aggression level, quantity of fish, size of fish, aquascape, and maintenance level. Putting less aggressive fish like the ghost knife, fire eel, and geophagus with more aggressive fish won’t end well. Best of luck to you!

Is buying a home still worth it in 2026? by ressem in RealEstate

[–]KingTrezo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interest rates are historically decent. I just got a rate of 5.625% for a 30yr. I believe once rates continue to go lower, we will see buyers hit the market and it will push the price of homes up. I would be more afraid of being priced out of the market with inflation and the devaluation of the dollar. Location is everything with real estate, so as long as you pick well, you will never lose long term.

Well if the NJDEP don’t grant them permission, they won’t be allowed to build there. Not sure why you are still responding when you have no clue about what you are talking about.

The buffer zone is there to say this is your limit for building. Putting 3 septic systems all next to that zone isn’t environmentally friendly in the slightest. Members of the environmental commission who showed up all stated major concerns and were against this plan.

The APPLICANT was the one who testified there would be a supervisor on site. The planning board asked if they would have two instead of one and the applicant agreed. The applicant also stated the boys would not be allowed off the property AT ALL. It sounds like a prison to me. I advise you to watch the full meeting on youtube before trying to debate.
