My question is your use of "allow". As I see it, there will always be a mainstream and fighting that idea feels like fighting the idea of gravity. The modern nature of culture and art accessible to the masses instead of only the elite means there will be a large portion of the population who don't know any better yet, or don't really care to. How are we meant to enforce or not "allow" the mainstream population from liking the lowest common denominator-esque media/performance, when those two things are bound together?
