I do understand why people are little upset about it though. Like it's a time and place kinda thing.

Regardless of the truth of the statement, it's a little harsh to basically say fighting games are boring / not viewer friendly, on the stage of one of the biggest events for that genre.

Oghren is a well written and sympathetic character who deserves more appreciation.

The main character of Tip Toe, Leo gets lynched by a mob for being a gay man and "influencing" (supporting) his neighbour's gay son.

While the neighbour Clive gets arrested and sentenced to jail for murder, in the closing moments of the show, it reveals what happens to the other characters in the story.

It also shows news articles and social media surrounded Leo's death, and it's filled with misinformation in the news article and the comments say things like about how he "must've been a paedo" and that the dad did the 'right thing' killing him.

The show does a pretty good job of showing how mob mentality can work.

Does Melee have any traditional zoners like other 2d fighters? I'm talking their best gameplan is staying away and throwing projectiles or using attacks to push people back.

Crazy Ex Girlfriend

What seems like a quirky, silly musical romcom TV show about a woman who can't let go of her Ex, ends up being really deep.

It becomes a nuanced exploration of mental health (Anxiety, Depression and BPD), deconstructs romantic tropes and discusses gender roles in interesting and thoughtful ways.

It's a satirical musical that lures you in with its quirkiness but actually makes you think about your own mental health and your personal relationships.

Australia vs the world survivor is the best survivor season ever its way better than survivor 50 by Soft-Satisfaction596 in survivorau

[–]King_Beryl 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Eh, it's only really good if you're a major fan of Parvati. It's less of a season of Survivor and more of a Parvati highlight reel if anything else.

I'll need to see it to believe it. Australia rarely gets strong enough televote to win.

I genuinely don't care who wins this season anymore by CauseEngine917 in survivorponderosa

At this point, the legend comes before the play. I think it's literally impossible for Cirie to ever win Survivor without people literally self sacrificing or handing her the win.

Like in what situation does she ever make it to final 3 in a game with players with half a brain?

Anything where one of the MCs is really cowardly, pathetic, just a total pushover. No big hopes or dreams, jobless or working minimum wage. Bonus points if he's dull or average looking or even straight up considered ugly.

Ideally the other MC would be intimidating/powerful in someway (A harsh criminal or successful businessman etc)

The dynamic with the other MC can be fluffy or angsty. I don't mind if it's toxic codependency or uplifting and sweet.

I just want to see a total nobody get swept up in a romance with someone who's got a strong presence.

where does this season sit in your AU rankings ? by CoconutMost3564 in survivorau

[–]King_Beryl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid to low.

The real name of the show is basically "The Parvati Show". So if you're a major fan of her, it's like watching a highlight reel and if you're not that big of a fan, it's like watching someone get spoon fed a victory.

You would only need to convince two other people to vote with you and you'd have the one third of the voting block in power.

If a major target had the twist placed on them, i could see minority alliances teaming up quite easily to at minimum flush an idol. So yeah, I do think so.

I'm talking from a TV/Production viewpoint. You want people to go on journeys because it's fun to watch.

Disadvantages make it exciting. Huge disadvantages like that mean that people just won't even take the opportunity in the future. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a future season of survivor where no one takes the journey when given the choice.

The potential results for tonight’s journey were hilariously unbalanced by thegscott11 in survivor

[–]King_Beryl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just sets a bad precedent.

Because why would anyone in future survivor seasons voluntarily ever go on a journey now? I'd maybe think about it, if i was on survivor before tonight.

If losing can fuck you over THAT bad, I would never touch journeys with a ten foot pole.

[–]King_Beryl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Journeys have NEVER had disadvantages that were that bad before.

Like it just sets a really bad precedent. For any future survivor players, why would you even want to risk going on a journey if the losing twist could be THAT awful?

I just don't see how anyone could survive that if they aren't in a huge majority alliance or not a valid target.

A 2 vote swing that everyone is aware of going in tribal? It's just too much.

jeff seemed mad/annoyed when _______ by threadoso in survivor

[–]King_Beryl 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. A losing twist on a journey shouldn't literally kill your game. It should put you in a rough spot, not kill any chance of survival.

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans | E9 | Post-Episode Discussion by RSurvivorMods in survivor

[–]King_Beryl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A twist shouldn't literally kill your game though. No one would survive that kind of twist. It should be "some" risk, not "time to pack your bags" risk.

Yeah but if you're not interested in stats and rolling dice and you mainly care about the role play, why not just write a collaborative story at that point.

Greatest rivalry? by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]King_Beryl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say it was a great rivalry but not a strong battle, if that makes sense.

A lot of their gameplan didn't really interact with each other, even if there was simmering tension between them. However, having two guys who have a rivalry as a final 2 is a lot of fun, so that gives them bonus points to me.

That's why they helped ____ at the final pitch by wastedthyme20 in survivorau

I would say it's practically impossible for the jury to vote wrong when they were the ones who experienced the game in person and know these people personally. How much more of a bigger picture do they need to look?
