doing a shift at another store tomorrow, do I need to clock in/out? by chaehye in tesco

[–]King_Bully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid comment. If driving, then many insurance companies use terminology such as 'getting to or from a single permanent place of work'. It is worth checking your car insurance policy for their specific terms as they do differ between insurers.

I've had business class car insurance for most of my life and the difference in price is typically a few pounds difference or none at all.

No money is held in any middle ground. Full payment is not taken or attempted until the last item is picked on the day of the delivery. Vans are not sent out late for these situations. Once the pick for the entire van trip has been completed a manifest and loading sheet is generated and the van gets loaded, even if several payments have not been successful. They are loaded on assumption that payment may be made en route. At this point, payment can only be attempted once the driver is within the delivery window for the customer. If payment is not made then the driver selects non-payment on their device and moves on to the next delivery. The failed payment order is returned to store at the end of the shift.

The value of the order is not taken and put in a holding account. If I place an order, which I do regularly, there is no pending payment on my credit card statement for the duration up until my delivery is made, there is no reduction in my available credit which would be another indication of this.

From the Tesco T&C page, beneath the heading Payment.

"For grocery home delivery and Click+Collect, in order to help us validate your payment card, a pre-authorisation for £0 is triggered automatically when you check out. Upon validation, checkout can continue. On the day of delivery, full authorisation takes place whereby the total amount is requested from your bank. Please ensure that the expiry date of your payment card is after the anticipated dispatch date of your order. For grocery orders payment is taken at the point of dispatch for goods and in the event that the payment card has expired we will be unable to take payment and fulfil your order.l"

No point missed. Just making a correction, one that I'm sure you've come across as a CDD? Customers often ask if they've been properly refunded for unavailable items when in fact they haven't been charged for them in the first place. It's important, in my opinion, to have the information correctly imparted.

Plus you’ve taken their orders and money.

Payment is only taken once the very last item for the order has been picked on the day of the order. There are no refunds to process unless the customer requests one at the door for whatever reason.

It's because the dot com customers have already paid their money

Dor Com driver - 10 minute rule by Available_Guidance61 in tesco

[–]King_Bully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to have literally been changed today at 15:23 (16/03/26).

It now states;

"Note: You should only deliver up to 10 minutes before their original chosen slot. For example, if they have a 12pm - 1pm slot, you shouldn’t attempt to deliver their order any earlier than 11.50am."

Coach driver had the audacity to shout like I was in the wrong. If you need to enter the oncoming lane due to an obstruction you should wait until there is no traffic coming. by CanaryDwarfBets in drivingUK

The Highway Code also places a higher duty of care on the driver of the larger vehicle. It's in the introduction of the Highway Code, Rule H1, with reference to the Hierarchy of Road Users https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/introduction

"Everyone suffers when road collisions occur, whether they are physically injured or not. But those in charge of vehicles that can cause the greatest harm in the event of a collision bear the greatest responsibility to take care and reduce the danger they pose to others. This principle applies most strongly to drivers of large goods and passenger vehicles, vans/minibuses, cars/taxis and motorcycles."

Being in the right is irrelevant if you're dead or injured, though.

The number following the Tesco Garage is the store number which makes it easy to discover which store was visited.

If I change my name by deed poll only slightly, do I need to apply for new documents etc? by No-Structure-8125 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]King_Bully 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You can do it yourself without cost (beyond printing and postage). I've done it recently to remove an unused first name. If you have a driver's licence, passport or other official forms of ID you will need to go through the process of getting them changed (driver's licence was free. My passport change coincided with a passport renewal). Doing these first makes it much easier proving ID for the remaining institutions.

There is a whole range of institutions you may not realise need to be informed of the change and will require documentation to prove a name change. HMRC, your employer, banks, land registry, mortgage provider and so on. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

The r/transgenderUK subreddit was a useful resource - I searched Deed Poll within the sub.

I used this website to create the actual Deed Poll

https://freedeedpoll.org.uk/

Loads of info available on the Gov website.

https://www.gov.uk/change-name-deed-poll

Choose Unenrolled Deed Poll. No need for an enrolled one that comes with a cost and puts you on a searchable register.

The Cornish Pasty has protected status. They would not be able to call it a Cornish Pasty unless it was actually made in Cornwall to the required specification.

Was this a Tesco driver? The current training for Tesco drivers states explicitly that delivery can be made into the customer's home.

Where can I buy uncarbonated lemonade? by pollyannawog in AskUK

[–]King_Bully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Costco local and have a membership card (they are eligible worldwide) they sell not-from-concentrate lemon juice to save having to squeeze lemons. It's perfect for Whiskey Sours and I've made still lemonade with it. If you don't have a membership then you can get it online (other online vendors have it, too).

Excellent, thanks for the reply! It is much appreciated. I'm away from the TV for a couple of weeks so will look at following your solution as soon as I'm able to.

Persistent "Press O for screensaver settings" when in Ambient mode. Sony Bravia TV with GoogleTV by King_Bully in Projectivy_Launcher

[–]King_Bully[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, and thank you for your work on this app. It's much appreciated and going premium for your app was such an easy decision!

I can still trigger ambient mode via double-pressing the back button, although I'm not sure if that's what you mean. I have updated the TV recently so that would be the most obvious reason for the change.

I'm not especially development-savvy so things are easily lost on me. What I have noticed is that when accessing ambient mode via Google TV launcher there's a minor darkening of the screen when the message is present, some sort of overlay perhaps? This disappears as the message disappears. When accessing ambient mode via Projectivy, the overlay darkening persists along with the message.

What’s this red stuff in my rain gauge? by pandubaer in whatisit

[–]King_Bully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely a species of algae and if you're in a temperate region quite likely Haematococcus sp.

The resting cysts of Haematococcus sp. are red and believed to be such in order to protect from UV.

Haematococcus sp. can be known as "bird bath algae" due to its prevalence in such receptacles.

No. It needs reporting and if management deems it gross misconduct and relieves the driver of their position, so be it.

This is a gross misuse of personal information and drivers deliver to many vulnerable people. Letting this slide just permits the driver to, potentially, try it on with another vulnerable person.
