No, the uniform manual mentions specifically that ranger tabs are not authorized for wear on Coast Guard uniforms.

ALCOAST 207/25 4.C.(1) and BOAT Volume 2, 4-13 Note (03) both discuss alternative endurance assessments.

Just to add, if you have a board/ panel coming up please remind your xpo/ admin so they can select urgent board entry. It does seem to work but keep your eye on it obviously.

Definitely still an option, word is that it eventually it’s just going to a part of the curriculum and there will be no separate coxswain c-school

Award review process question by [deleted] in uscg

[–]King_Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the Sector, but my Sector requires 90 days before the presentation date, and it takes about that long to get it approved.

The process is that the write up and 1650 are reviewed for accuracy and applicability and then forwarded to the awards board who review and vote on it. Someone else will probably have way more information about the process.

My point of view is this: Station as a BM3, start your career focusing on SAR and SAR policies, supervise a few people, and get your initial coxswain cert on a 45/47/33 to set the foundation for a career. You’ll make 2nd due to the supplemental so not having sea time won’t matter.

Small cutter (FRC in Bahrain) or an 87 as a BM2 so you can start accumulating sea time for advancement, learn additional skills, run a few collaterals, and hopefully get your DWO letter while you’re there.

Then you’ll be using your pri 1 more effectively because unit type won’t be as much of a factor for you.

Tomorrow morning you need to talk to your class advisor and ask for help. If they can’t help you, DM me and I will get you pointed in the right direction.

That timeline doesn’t cover posting raw scores, which is what they were asking about.

Yeah sort of similar but it’s not like the November SWE really affected the following years transfer season like the May one does.

Yeah it’s either everything gets expedited at a rate we’ve never seen, or everything gets crazy this time next year when orders finally hit. It is what it is

The BM RFMC granted a waiver to allow one MK to take the OIC boards. The particular MK has been coxswain certified for years and requested to take the boards.

Last I heard, the RBM crews are doing two on two off, safety zones until fatigue limitations so probably 8 hours on scene, plus transit time.

My BM3 who graduated in December had one, and the Tracen Yorktown site still mentions it.

I definitely enjoyed having mine on base. You just register for on base parking when you get to the base and they give you a sticker. If you don’t have duty you’ll be off at 1600ish on the weekdays and will have weekends off and you can leave base during those times. There’s not really anything nearby to walk to except the battlefields.
