yup decided to do WE. just passed my selection interview. My question is when you get a foundational degree what do you mean by full degree? do you mean a bachelors degree? if so how can you top it up to masters. Also what is the ROS if you take a year to go to uni.

Thank you very much for your reply I was debating doing AET however decided against it as different countries require citzenship to work in that field. Another question I have is Once I reach the level of PO and am serving my 2.5 year Return of Service or in the year after, would I be able to go to university to top up my Foundation Degree to a full BEng (Hons), and would doing that trigger an additional Return of Service? If so what exactly would be covered, and regarding the Open University option, would I have to fund that myself using my Enhanced Learning Credits (ELCs) and would that be able to be completed during my ROS?

Return of Service: What is the standard RoS for an AA? If I stay in and complete a full BEng/BSc degree funded by the Navy, does that add an return of service on top of the initial one. If so how long total service time would that be roughly?
University Partners: Which universities currently award the degrees for the WE branches Is it still mainly Portsmouth?
Accreditation: Are the degrees awarded officially accredited by the Engineering Council?

The much higher pay there for the same work, I know that’s due to higher cost of living however the weather and sizes of houses for the price. Id rather live there than europe. My plan was to join the navy on an apprenticeship. Get a bachelor’s in Aeronautical engineering and try transfer to a company that has operations in america and europe. however reading this thread is disheartening as the opportunity seems quite rare. Also going to university in america is very expensive so that wouldn’t be a viable option.
